I remember back in the day when i used to watch Dragonball Z/GT. Haven't seen it in years but that was a kickass show, and movies were good.

Only anime movies I've seen are Akira and Ghost in the Shell. I thought Akira was awesome, thought GITS was okay.

The Cowboy Bebop movie is a bad choice, not because it's a bad movie (which it's not) but instead because it depends on knowledge of the TV series.

It's like the X-Files movie, more of a 2 hour episode and less of a movie.

Is the OP really looking for movies, or just budget constraint? If it's a budget issue, let me recommend Martian Sucessor Nadesico TV, it's available in the Bandai Complete Collection packaging for ~$35, and is one of the better TV series to date. Plus, the dub is really good (odd for an anime).
