There seems to be an international contest for municipal water (link), but I want to know what ATOT'ers think.

Best water I've ever tasted is from Tigard, Oregon. I think it's from the Bull Run reservoir, and doesn't have any flouride added to it.

Worst one I can remember is Salt Lake City, although I'm sure there are others as well. I was in SL for a week and had maybe 32 ounces of the stuff it was so disgusting.

Yea, before anyone says anything, I know I'm weird. Also, on a side note, I plan to start collecting water from around the world. I'll fill up a one liter or so bottle with tap water from the different places I visit, and will store them in my water cellar. Each water will bring back memories of my travels.

Best: Slidell, Louisiana
Worst: Bedford, Indiana (The limestone capital of the world, it apparently has the most calcium rich water in the world, and you sure can tell)

So far I think Madison, WI tap water is pretty good.
While Tempe, AZ (or pretty much anywhere in Phoenix Metro) tap water is pretty sh1tty.
You have to use filter to remove the taste.

I like the tap water in the Seattle/Tacoma area. I've never had a problem with junk floating in the water (or nowhere near as bad as Phoenix water at least).

The worst water I ever drank was from a well in Molt, Montana (outside of Billings). The sulfur content was so high, the water smelled like eggs (since the well was fed from the Yellowstone River), and it actually made me rather sick for a day or so.

I remember in 6th grade we went to the Catskills in NY... they claimed the water from the fountain was pure and clean... I tasted it and it was the worst I've ever tasted. I think I'm better off with tainted water. ;)

Best I've had is Dubuque, IA. Actually voted 3rd best tap water in the country for several years.

Worse is as kyutip says - Phoenix. This....stuff.....they call call water is NASTY! It's crusty, chlorinated swill.

Edit - just read the article...Dubuque was #5 :)

Worst: San Antonio, TX. Tastes and smells like the dirt that settles in the bottom if you let it stand for a few minutes. Very sulfuric.

I love the water here in Memphis, some of the best, from Artesian wells. I drink it all the time. Last year, I gave up drinking all carbonated beverages. Basically, I'm either drinking water, or Jack and water. (Actually I've also grown fond of Buffalo Trace.)

Worst I've tasted has to be in south western Missouri. Smells and taste like sulfur, very strong. Nasty!

Best I've has was in Switzerland. Their tap water tastes as good as our bottled water. In fact, you can't buy bottled water cause they don't sell it!

Not sure what the worst is tho........

Frankly, I like most Oregon water; Portland, Salem, and Eugene all use good sources, although Salem's slow-sand filtration system gives it the edge.

As for bad water, put me down for Phoenix, AZ. They'd be better off building a pipeline to the ocean to desalinize the seawater.

Orlando has some pretty nasty tap water. The water from my dad's well at his house in Michigan is excellent, and comes out of the tap freezing cold.

That was going to be my submission. My grandmother lives there and I can't stand to drink the water.

Dublin, Ireland also gets props for bad water. Tastes like metal. Thus I was forced to only drink Guinness. :D

Best water... I don't know. Most of the places that I've been in Florida have great water. Tallahassee's was very drinkable, although the fact that it left orangish-pink residue in my sink/tub was a little disconcerting.
