Wait a couple more weeks until Llano comes out, it'll blow your mind![]()
The best AMD gaming laptop? The one you trade in for an Intel based laptop.
Right now, buying a Laptop with AMD cpu is just plain retarded. Less performance and less battery life + more heat.
It's fudzilla so take it with a grain of salt but here's some news:

But supporting a convicted criminal recently fined to the tune of billions of dollars because they don't think they have to abide by the law is a good idea?
Right.
And for what it's worth, I'm looking for a new laptop for a friend and asking this advice - I currently have the next-step down Acer laptop from the one I mentioned, which has the 5650 graphics part...and it plays WoW completely maxed out just fine.
So you might want to pull your head out and stop talking smack when you clearly haven't got the slightest idea what you're talking about. Hope you at least own stock in Intel...that might explain your toxic fanboyism at least a little...
For what it is worth I have no idea what you are talking about there....and as for the last line...
You do realise of course that ONLY an AMD fanboy would try to defend the current pile of poos that is AMD cpus against Intel when comparing perf\watt...
Yeah; my experience with AMD mobile has been lackluster, to say the very least. WOW isn't really designed to be a benchmark-setter compared to say, Crysis or Shogun or what-have-you, so that's a point against you so far.
What I'd suggest, as many others have noted, is wait a few weeks until Llanos comes out (at least for the CPU portion) and go from there. It night not hurt to list what kind of games you and your buddies typically play.
As for comparing perf/watt - don't care. You can keep your benchmarks...in the real world it doesn't make any difference.
Sure it does, my ThinkPad X220 has over 10 hours of battery life with a Intel Core i5 2410m. You'd be lucky to get half that battery life with the triple or Quad core AMD processor you would need to match the i5's performance, assuming it even had a low enough TDP to fit into an ultraportable in the first place.
...what? You're comparing a 12.5" netbook with, I presume, Intel integrated graphices to a 17.3" laptop with an ATI 5650? Are you under the impression that such a comparison makes any sense? The reason you tried to change this to an ultraportable discussion is...?
And at any rate, I also couldn't care less about battery life. There are no cases in which I need to use my laptop for any appreciable amount of time where I'm not plugged in. Primary use would be for playing WoW at some hotel room when I'm on the road and therefore don't have access to my desktop. I really can't imagine any period of time when I'd need to use a laptop for more than maybe an hour on battery power - and I sure as hell wouldn't be gaming then anyway.
I used that as a example because it shows just how much performance /watt does matter. AMD is so far behind they don't offer anything that can match a Sandy Bridge dual core's performance without completely sacrificing battery life.
It's funny that you called the X220 a netbook though, you can get it with a Core i7 2xxx that's faster than your 17.3" Acers Phenom II.
It sure does matter. More performance/watt means you can do more work with whatever limited energy is stored in the battery. As for comparing perf/watt - don't care. You can keep your benchmarks...in the real world it doesn't make any difference.
Most of us here are enthusiasts. We only care about who does it better. And right now, Intel does it better. At any rate, sorry for stepping into what's cleary an Intel fanboi snakepit. Thanks to ikachu, who is the *only* person who actually said anything relevant to the question I asked. As for the rest of you - sorry I opened the wrong door. You kids get back to whatever it is you do here in your secret Intel fanboi club.
What's funny is that you think that would make any difference, granted the graphics capability of the thing compared to an ATI/AMD 5650 or 6550.

That doesn't matter - I'm never giving Intel any money ever again on ethical grounds.
