You sure the hairdrier isn't working? Try putting it on the hottest and fastest setting and give it a good heating, that usually works for me. If it's not working, maybe you are using too large of a diameter of a piece for what you want it to shrink on, my radioshack heatshrink tubing only shrinks so far.

using 1/4" and trying to shrink it onto molex conn wires (18 gauge)

I have used a cigarette lighter on several occasions.

depending if the tube is rough textured or smooth

cig lighter works best for me

on the yellow colored tubes, if you get too close the yellow discolors

black tubes goes with everything
