Some outfit called "Gentoo Solutions" registered my friends last name ".com" w/ GoDaddy. It's just been parked too - for ten years. Lame.

It's a bastardized Ellis Island mess of a name, and there's only like 8 of them in the world. But there it is.

my first and last name together are 15 letters.

Too long?

Depends. If it's friends and family that are going to be using it, then it's fine. If it's for professional or marketing use, I'd try to keep it below eight, and make sure it's obvious how to spell it.

Out of curiosity, I just checked my own name. My last name is taken with pretty much every possible TLD. Hell, even my firstnamelastname is taken with most domains. However, apparently I can still get firstnamelastname.xxx. Guess I know what direction to take my career.

that's exactly where I'm at.

No website...just someone squatting on it using godaddy. My last name is probably the least common name you could imagine. Domains by Proxy owns it. :(

Eh, I don't think so but IMO that's approaching a length limit for ease of remembering and typing it in. My domain, with first/middle initial/last, is 12 characters and I don't think it's too long at all.

My very rare last name .com has been the same way. I've been in contact with the owner who I dont know but shares my last name and says he's keeping it until the end of time.

The .net is owned by a German dude who's never done anything with it.
