It took longer than I thought for Ed Norton to be mentioned.

I'd put him there with Leonardo DiCaprio and probably Kevin Spacey.

And probably Morgan Freeman's voice.

He's mentioned as "the other dude from fight club."

50 years ago, the movies were all about acting - no special effects, few stuntmen, etc. I think that the best actors alive have been retired for quite a few years. Watch some of the old movies on AMC and some of them will make you realize that even the "best" actors of this generation suck.

idk, some of the "stars" from that era were pretty damn bad actors and I'd put money on Meryl Streep over any of them.

I like Johnny Depp a lot, as well as Harrison Ford. I also really like Tom Hanks a lot, Castaway was amazing - I've never felt such emotion for losing a volleyball :Q

I think Johny Depp is one of the best actors. Diverse. Always does a good job.

And to the haters of Johny Depp, you simply can not ignore the fact that from an acting standpoint, he does a good job, all the time. Consider the diverse range of people he's portrayed. A pirate. Edward Scissor hands. A drug lord (in Blow). He just does every role perfectly.

I also like Edward Norton, but he is not of good as an actor.

This is like a comparison of athletes of different eras. it is pointless. The people and technology around them were different. There is no way to compare actors from different eras. It is s tupid to do so.

Jack Nicholson and Leonardo DiCaprio.

I really disliked him for some reason early in his career, maybe it's the pretty boy fad everyone had on him at the time but after seeing his films after Titanic, I'm convinced I was wrong about him. I'm a fan of his work now. 😱

My vote goes to Dicaprio too. He's convinced me with the wide array of works he's done.

Yeah I hated him in his early days too due to the pretty boy BS that he was riding on, but after Blood Diamond I knew he had awesome potential and it's only gone uphill from there. As far as I'm concerned he is the actor of our generation.

For me it's Brad Pitt, Edward Norton and Matt Daemon. With Fight Club and Rounders being two of my favorite movies ever.

Nerdian slip there 😉. I'm a big fan of Pitt, Damon and Dicaprio, as far as "our generation" goes.

Although Ed Norton is also solid. Have you seen him in Primal Fear? Mind-blowing.

He said actor.

However, Meryl Streep is the greatest thespian alive if we include actresses also.

This thread has had some good discussion. I think based on that, I've decided to add another option to the poll.

I think so. I'm not a huge fan, but she's very talented. I also like Gary Oldman.

Clint Eastwood is a badass, but that's what he is. A badass.
