Best active football player.

If you had to build a team from the scratch, who would you chose as your number one pick? For obvious reasons, I only included quarterbacks and running backs. Personally, I'd pick Priest Holmes. He's what Marshall Faulk was a few years ago, but with more running power.

McNair. Running backs are lucky if they last 5 years, but a QB might play 15. And I think McNair is the best in the business right now.

If I was to build a team today ... along with a good O-line, I'd start with Ricky Williams. He is a workhorse and a great physical specimen. With solid blockers in front he could rip teams apart. Of course, this is also assuming that I'd have a decent QB.

A lot of McNair votes I see. One knock I have against him - he gets hurt a lot. While he seems to be doing a good job playing hurt, you certainly wouldn't want to see your quarterback constantly banged up.

Michael Vick ... he's the youngest. He's insanely fast, got a good arm, and is an excellent quarterback to build a team around.

I want to agree with you but Favre is in his latter year of playing. If I woas going to build a keeper team from scratch Michael Vick is the best decision.

I can't think of anyone else I'd want my rookie quarterback to learn from except maybe Mike Holmgren.

i voted for Manning tho it was tough call between manning and mcnair. i just think right now, mcnair has more around him and a better coach than manning does. dungie is pretty good but i don't think he is as good of a coach as fisher.

I am a big Packer fan, but Favre is either on or off, and when he is off he is terrible. Ahman Green fumbles too much.

My vote has to go to Randy Moss, he is amazing!

Dude.

It's
PEYTON manning
RICKY Williams
BRETT Favre
MARSHALL Faulk
AHMAN Green

you got 3/8 right.

And McNair would get my vote among the 8... although 'best football player' is like 'best automobile'. There are many different kinds of automobiles, of different sizes and specialities.

Right now I'd have to go with McNair b/c he's at a great point in his career... he has grown to posess great leadership qualities. He's been to, and almost won a superbowl, and he got back to the conference championship again last year.

If it were a couple of years ago I would have said Brett Favre!

Without a doubt, I'd build my team around Peyton Manning. That guy is a mastermind on the football field. His team usually goes no huddle and he constantly makes the right calls at the line. He can recognize defenses and decide what he has to do against them.
