Best Acrylic Case? Building the girlfriend a PC.

Acrylic cases are not appropriate for day to day use - they are for store displays, science fairs and similar exhibits. They are dirt magnets, generally poor for cooling and noise, and they don't contribute to containing RFI/EMI emissions. See if she wouldn't be happy with a case with a small but interesting window like the Silverstone Temjin 4...

Whats the best Acrylic Case? Price needs to be below $125

120mm fans would be nice but I cant seem to find any that have that.

Ive been looking at this one:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16811166010

actually i found something while helping a member that might fit a girl perfectly.

However the cooling section might be a little bit inadaquit, but i plan on dropping a 80x2 radiator to cool a C2D on it. But this case shows a lot of promise in my eyes.

But then again, i mod most of my cases, so...

Heres a black one:

But yeah, maybe after my CM project, i'll start on this one. My best friend's been asking me for a case change. She got bored of her Lian Li V2000, and she doesnt understand how expensive that case is.

Oh wellz, i can use the lian in another build i guess.

i especially love how the Optical Access is.

And about window, Ahhhh, <3 my dremel + AC Ryan Plexiglass sheet.

This case is cheap at $50 but it is mATX. Supposedly there's an ATX version (and other colors) floating out there somewhere. I like it because of the aluminum frame - most acrylic cases are just the plastic pieces connected to each other.

they're like a white car, the dirt is easier to see.

yeah, their "static" generating abilities could attract dust.

generally poor for cooling and noise

case fan in the side, the top, and the back, is plenty for
most customers. the OP is about buying an acrylic case
for his girlfriend, not an OC attempt.

they don't contribute to containing RFI/EMI emissions

true. but, does it really matter, unless you're applying
for FCC certification ? my old P4C800 ran OK next to
my old P5GD, both in acrylic cases, both OC'ed.

acrylic case computer could gum up a wireless network.

i have had one Logisys
http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16811148001

and one Sunbeam

also, if your GF likes the see-through cases, the XQ-Pack has
side windows & blue lights. and comes in 2 case styles & 6
different colors. built for micro-ATX motherboards and needs
a decent Power supply like the 430 watt in my sig.

Here's the Ultra Micro Fly: - acrylic on three sides and hard to beat this promotional price - plus you don't have to dispose of the junk PSU that comes with the Apevia version.

That's a great price on the MicroFly, except that version doesn't come with a PSU... unless that's what you meant. IMO the V-Series that some of them come with are better than any of the Apevia units.

I still prefer the X-Qpack2, having owned both. The X-Qpack2 just has much better ventilation, plus the one-piece cover makes for a bit more rigid chassis than the MicroFly 3 piece.

Im trying to pick between Logisys & Sunbeam & X-Clear. Which one do you think is built the best? They are all about the same price so what do you think is best?

Logisys & Sunbeam are generally the identical case - IDK about the other. The X-Clear is the same just under Xoxide's house brand... No diff between the three.

Logisys - uses 80mm fans I believe
Sunbeam - uses 120mm fans
X-Clear - dunno.

I guess in the end it will be about how much silence she will want.

sunbeam FTW!

dude the 120mm rear also means you have a bit more clearance room for a bigger cooler.

it's very interesting, at times when I'm working on my PC I have it an an angle where the optical drive opens straight up like that, I can't get disc's to stay in it without some effort on my part they always want to fall forward before it closes. You used this case? seems like that might be a problem? very cool idea though if it works well I'd use this for a small case 🙂
