best 9600GT out so far?

What do you think is the best 9600GT out to buy right now? I'm sure better ones will come but I'm sick of waiting for things. Really I would like to see one with a Zalman already on it like my XF 8600GT. The stock fan noise worries me because my rig is close to silent as it is. So far I'm thinking one of the EVGAs.

well
most 9600gts have a pwmm fan. some 8600GTs do not.

I think most video cards with pwmm fans are pretty quiet, but maybe a little louder in 3d mode.

i think the best one so far is the PNY one, since its $151.

Some MSI cards come with a free Witcher game and a high factory-overclock, but yea, the 8800GT (MSI, btw) wins.

I haven't really heard complainst abt MSI mail in rebates ? There's also a EVGA 8800gt going for 180$ AR, if you perhaps trust EVGA more ? No such thing as mail in rebates in Holland though, so not to familiar with them, I do know they sometimes take a couple of months 😛

well i just bought the EVGA ones with the copper cooler... i didnt happen to find a dual slot cooler design as i much prefer them...

i figure i can do their step up program later on and the copper cooler has to be better than the normal cooler...

why only if you had an nVidia mobo?

they have shown that the increase it speed with that is from a slight bump in PCI-express clock speed...

SLi Lol

what is your opinion of PNY? I bought a 7300gs a while ago for my parents pc that had onboard graphics and it was a pos. Maybe it was just because it was a low low end card though.

so PNY is no longer a stay away from company? thats how it was back when i got my GF4 Ti4200... it wasnt a reference design...

The best one is the one with the best warranty (EVGA or XFX and whoever has a lifetime warranty). I really like EVGA (really great customer service). They just gave me a 320MB 8800GTS for my 256MB 7900GS.

Normally not. I remember there were a few different TI4200 models and I must have installed around 20 of the PNY TI 4200 cards and all were reference that I remember with the purple PCB's like this one

I've heard bad things about mir's, but I've always gotten them. The only difficult one was a sapphire that took 5 mos to get, the others were all 6-8 wks. $191 shipped for an OC 8800gt with a dual slot cooling solution vs $158 shipped for a 9600gt that has been proven to be a significantly weaker card seems like a pretty easy decision to me 😕

i had a pny 4200 as well and as far as i know it was reference.

i think pny made a 128mb 4200, maybe that was the only difference since most were 64mb.

I have had the pny 8600gts and have the 8600gt right now and they are both reference .

evga actually is the worst about non reference designs on midrange cards. they seem to go to a non reference design after the initial launch to save money.

thats why there are evga 8600gt cards out there with only 1 DVI port and a 2 pin non PWMM fan (i have tried this too, and the fan is loud even at idle because it doesnt change rpm with 2d / 3d mode).

so yeah, if anything if you buy a post launch low range nvidia card it would be "stay away from evga" especially since the low end cards do not have lifetime warranty.

sorry if this has already been asked, but when i check on the MSI site i found it very vague on the warrnty, it said some product stuff followed by 2 years.

so does this mean MSI provides 2 year warranty?

good one. I don't understand what all the fuss is about with the pcie speed. This is a good card for those who can't afford an 8800gt isn't it?
