Best 865PE motherboard - no overclocking. Out of box performance.

I'm leaning toward the Asus 865PE, but I can't decide over these companies as well: Abit, Chaintech, GigaByte, and MSI.

Flip a coin between ASUS, ABIT, and Gigabyte. I would choose ABIT, but that's just me. :)

Asus P4P800 non-deluxe if you don't need the extra SATA. Best i865PE board IMHO.

I have no complaints with my Asus P4P800 Deluxe. I would buy another one. MSI products are fine after the first 4-5 months of release - (need those Bios updates). I don't have any experience with the others.

My past experience with MBs from these companies...

Asus - The MB I had didn't have jumper to clear the CMOS. - That Asus board left a bad taste in my mouth. Never had another one after that.
Abit - Have had some quirkiness, but nothing that a BIOS flash couldn't fix... except the MB with bad caps. Stable & great OCrs. - My favorite MBs have been Abit.
Chaintech - I haven't owned one - No opinion.
Gigabyte - The boards I've had have been stable as all getout. The stability has been their strong point. - I like Gigabyte boards, but would go with an Abit anyway.
MSI - I've only had one MSI MB. The previous BIOS issues are true. My board was quirky, but I couldn't get the BIOS flashed. I followed the instructions to the letter. - MSI... Never again.

"ABIT's RMA policy is unmatched in the U.S.; no other motherboard manufacturer comes close. In combination with their timely tech support reply, we feel ABIT is one of the best (if not the best) motherboard manufacturer to turn to for motherboard customer service and support in the U.S."

if your not overclocking, either the Asus or Gigabyte because they usually go above the other companies when it comes to feature/accessory rich products, IMO
