What is the best i845G at this point. I dont wana spend $170 like the Asus ver but i need the regular 12v connector because my PSU doesnt have the P4 12v one. Thanx

soltek MIR series boards have a regular perif power connector if you already have atx 2.03 compliant psu. so the will work too. They are mATX though but look very sweet. Newegg.com has them.

😉 Nah man i have the early antec 300w PSUs right before they started using the new 12v connectors on em. Its a sweet PSU and I have no problems, ill look into the epox thanx for the help 😀

Hey,

what about memory speed on that Epox board? Some vendor (Gogo city I think) listed the memory speed as PC2100. I'd like to run PC2700 instead. Does this board support it?

I intend to get a 1.8 GHz Northwood and set the FSB to 533.

thanks,

Bump

rainguy i doubt you've tried them all. The asus p4b533 board is puttin out higher overclocks consistently. Granted both can achieve good overclocks, the Asus board slightly edges it out. If you don't believe me look at thugsrook's thread a while ago on this board.

Nope man, DDR333 support. Being the P4 freak you are 😉 You should know that the i845Gs support DDR333 stock, and i845D/E's dont.

OK, true, I have not tried every "G" board but, all the main players. The Asus was simply not as good as the Epox for me. Everyone will have different experiences. They are both good boards.

I think there are enough opinions here and all over this forum SSXeon5

Just read the "official" motherboard threads on these boards and decide for your self which one you like. I mean what do I care if you buy a BG7 or not. Read a couple reviews as well just get the best one to suit you (maybe no p4 power connector)

Good luck and happy overclocking
