Best 6800GT??

I had bad luck with the BFG 6800gt OC. First one wasn't overclocked from BFG. The second wouldn't run at reference clock settings of 350/1000. I purchased a PNY and never looked back!!! Runs very stable @ 415/1100. I am very happy with the PNY.

I second/third, or whatever, the PNY 6800GT....overclocks to ultra speeds just fine and games never looked better.....got to it via an ati 8500 and 9800 pro. Doom 3 and HL 2 baby, yea!

I just ordered my video card (PNY 6800 GT) from provantage (345.47 shipped) and all I can say is thank God!!! Has anyone seen the new price they have listed now? $449!?!?!

I got an eVGA. Excellent support, in stock, and they know what gamers want (up-to-date drivers and no nonsense). Thing performs like a champ.

eVGA myself. The overclockability is all hit and miss anyway. At least, if something bad happens, I can go to their office in hurry and strangle few. (actually, they are close enough where I can drop by for support etc. My previous nVidia based cards were all from them for that one reason).

I spoke with Provantage 2 times on the phone today to verify the price change. They are not going to honor any of the cards at $345 and will email you to see if you want accept the new price. I appreciate their honesty and professionalism but I ordered from eVGA and my card was on a plan 2 hours later on it's way to me.

Fry's in Manhattan Beach had both the BFG and PNY 6800GT cards on the shelves this afternoon. There were 6 BFG and 2 PNY. Both priced at $399.

I picked up a BFG.

You mean it's $300 2 days before the auction closes, right ? I guess you don't think the
price will go up, right ? Well, newsflash: they all close at 400+, usually around 450......

Do you have a link to auctions which closed at 300 ?

No problems whatsoever with my PNY 6800GT. So far I've only tested it at 400/1.1, but it's as stable as a rock there. Ultra speeds for less than $400? PNY all the way. 🙂

Thanks for the link to the step-up program, I've been looking for it. Make sure to read the terms and conditions, you have to return your current card before they send you the new one. So keep in mind you'll be without your sweet 6800GT for up to two weeks (that seems reasonable to account for shipping delays and processing). Probably not a deal breaker for most, but something to keep in mind, make sure you have a back-up video card for that time. If you plan on stepping-up I probably wouldn't overclock either...but that's probably just my extreme paranoia talking...

I'm in on an eVGA. Not sure if I'm going to step-up or not, but having the option is great. Ordered yesterday morning and was already on it's way yesterday afternoon.

I went with EVGA from their website $399. Within 90 days you can send it back and step up to an Ultra or their best card at that time (maybe 512 Mb model in October?). They give you the full price towards the new retail card as long as you return the card in good condition with all of the "stuff" that came with it.

Is that 90 day thing only if you get it from their website...🙁 they just went on back order

Read the step-up link posted previously. They're making an exception for the Ultra since you may end up waiting for it for more than 90 days.

I went out to one of the Fry's here in San Jose this afternoon. It had a bunch of 128 mb 6800s, but only 1 BFG 6800 gt, which had been opened. I'm going to go in and look again tomorrow morning.
