best 6600GT AGP

OK, this has been posted before, but it wasnt exactly what i was looking for.

I'm more concerned about quality...which 6600GT has the best design, HSF stays on, doesnt get hot, quiet, etc

I've heard about how bad some are...and i want to get the right one the first time.

if anyone has any info, links, of personal experience they would share, i'd greatly appreciate it.

In Anandtech's review, Leadtek came out on top, they are known for making good cards.

I would say BFG or EVGA. I have not personally had an EVGA, but I have heard that they are very good. However, I have had a BFG, and I was 110% happy with it, and from now on, I will be going with them. They have a lifetime warranty, so you don't have to worry about that, and they also seem to be a little more "leanient" towards mods (overclocking, aftermarket HSF's, etc.). As far as card quality is concerned, there one of the best, and I have heard no problems with the actual design of the card, but every OEM is restricted to some kind of guideline they must follow. If I was you, I would go with one of those 2 .

well, i was thinking either leadtek, or BFG...anyone have some good prices/links...or reviews?

ok, i know i just posted...and im lazy and dont wanna edit it...

I have decided between either a Leadtek, or BFG...now, i will not be overclocking (i would underclock the BFG to save PSU power) because my power supply is only 300watts...dont tell me to upgrade, cuz with my specs, i've been told it will run, from people on this forum...plus i cant upgrade...dont ask why...

so, the BFG is really expensive, but is it much better? and is there anywhere i can get the leadtech for under 200 or close to 200? (its at 215 now...)

If the PCIe version is the same as AGP the Loadtek is better because BFG uses thermal glue and their hs is wiggly. Even if they have lifetime warranty, I'd rather choose Leadtek which has a solid solid hs design.

The Leadtech won the AndandTech review because AndandTech didn't bother to review the BFG card.

The BFG card has a lifetime garauntee... the Leadtech doesn't.

The BFG card is THE fastest stock 6600GT... the Leadtech isn't.

BFG's warranty and quality makes their cards the best IMO. However, they do not have the fastest stock 6600GT, the XFX EXTREME GAMER EDITION comes@500/700 stock compared to BFG@525/525.

Well I'm assuming everyone who has the BFG has also had the Leadtek, which is why they say the BFG is better. I have neither. I have a Leadtek on order however. What appealed to me about the Leadtek is that it had the quietest fan. As my machine will be in a bedroom, the limitation of noise is important. I'm sure you will be fine going either way.

You can get the Leadtek PX6600GT with Doom 3 at Newegg for about $215 shipped. Have fun.

I do not want the best performance, or warranty, because a card really shouldnt need a warrant if its gonna be carefully put into the computer and just sit there and play games...no mods...no OCing...

i dont want OCing on my card either

So, with the leadtek being very good quality, i chose that, plus its cheaper

i dont have 250 to spend

and i need agp, not pci-e...but the leadtek comes with 2 good games so 218 is reasonable...250 isnt....

There is nothing wrong with the Leadtech, but having said that, folks will say the darndest things to qualify their own actions:

I want my video card to be slower... in case it malfunctions down the road, I want to make sure my only option is tossing it in the trash can... how I put my video card into my computer determines the quality of the card... I do not believe you get what you pay for... $32 bucks for a night at Pizza Hut is better then having a lifetime garauntee my videocard will always function.

I have the eVGA AGP 6600 GT, and it performs just fine, although I think it's a little louder than the BFG or the Leadtek (eVGA uses nVIDIA's reference heatsink). I'd have to vote for the BFG because of the aforementioned reasons. The only reason I didn't get it was because I wasn't sure if it had a bundled HDTV dongle. I contacted BFG several times, but none of their reps knew offhand since the card was so new.

hey, i have heard that if you touch the heatsink it can cause problems...and i meant that i was just gonna put it in my computer and prolly never touch it again...sorry if that confused you, but i did not mean to say that it determined quality...and if it malfunctions, ill just have my parents do something or get it fixed...thats not a problem...cuz i prolly wont pay for that

and about it being slower, yes, i only have 300watt power supply and i dont wanna screw it up, so i am not looking into OCing it

and i am LOW on money...i'm not old enough to drive (almost ) and i dont have a job...i have 25$ now, and will prolly get 150$ for my b-day and some allowance money...and believe me, i dont believe in you get what you pay for...not all the time....why should you? sometimes the cheap stuff really is better or a better buy.

did i not specify why i wanted a non OCed card? yeah...i do want one of their slower ones, cuz it uses less power...like i said....but hey, i'm going from a 9200, so almost anything is better.

I've been very pleased with by XFX 6600GT AGP, and from what I've observed from other users, it is among the best overclockers and is priced very well. Also, it sports a sexy blue PCB and some come with 1.6ns ram apparently! As far as the heatsink goes, I have not found any OEM solutions I am happy with.

the "gamer edition" of the xfx comes with the good ram and it is oc'ed to 600mhz out of the box
