Umm...no.....

Debian

Mac OS X

Odd, my Debian screens look nothing like that and I find that OS X screenshot hideous.

And on top of it all, the UI is only a portion of the complete system. The overall system and package management in Debian is light years ahead of OS X and that's what's important. Hell I'd probably be happer with one of the free BSDs than I would with OS X.

B) Debian is a much better system than OS X.

Imagine the words "in my opinion" when Nothinman talks about how much better Debian is than everything else.

Those shots are just nasty. No CLASS whatsoever. They are simply hacked "skins" on top of an inferior DOS like system that is nowhere near as easy to use as MacOS X. What's so great about an OS that barely is usable anyway? MacOS X just works just like it's predecessor MacOS 9.

Yea, I know what you mean, I can't belive linux is hacked up like that to pretend to have a gui. I eve heard some commercial company did that with BSD. I think they were apple or something. Its horrible I tell you. Why can't they write good GUI OS's.

What are you talking about?

Odd that you would say that since OS X is largely a GUI built on top of the Mach kernel and FreeBSD userland, just like every other unix out there. OS X is not classy, in fact I find most of the UI to be ugly and the fact that you can't even them the thing without virtually breaking into the system is really stupid.

And I use that 'barely usable' OS every day, just because you haven't taken the time to learn the system doesn't mean it's a bad one.

What kind of class? Java, C++, ?

They are simply hacked "skins"

Not quite. Each one of those is a different Window Manager. Blackbox, After/GNU(?)step, and Gnome respectively. They're themed, but I wouldn't categorize that as a "skin."

on top of an inferior DOS like system

There is no DOS-like system there. Linux is not DOS-like at all.

that is nowhere near as easy to use as MacOS X.

Says who?

What's so great about an OS that barely is usable anyway?

You tell me. Every OS I use (Solaris [various versions], OpenBSD [on a number of platforms], Linux [various versions], Windows [various versions], and Mac OS X) are all quite usable.

MacOS X just works just like it's predecessor MacOS 9.

Mac OS X works nothing like MacOS 9. They're entirely different.

OpenBSD just works for me. It must be the best evar.

I think he missed my comment about all of this being opinion. 😛

I think he missed my comment about all of this being opinion.

That and he doesn't seem to understand how OS X is actually put together. And even if you like OS X, you have to admit that the NetInfo crap is annoying.

Provide information on why NetInfo is good, and I'm sure Nothinman would be willing to rant about how much it sucks.

I never looked into it myself. 😛

Typical PeeCee weenie trolling^

Typical Mac user "I paid $5000 for my Mac so I must be better than you" attitude.

And donsidering that you're the one who first called Linux barely usable and without class, but has yet to back anything up with more than an ugly screenshot, I'd say you're the one trolling.

It provides end users with many useful network utilities via Apple's legendary ease of use and design as a result providing advanced network tools to a broader range of users, not just geeks.

Not an ugly screenshot but what's depicted IS ugly and unnecessarily complex. It's like going back to the old ages.

BTW, I didn't spend $5000 although close and it has paid for itself and my rent in less than 2 months of work. I don't find myself being elitest even the slightest bit.

Everytime I've poked at it, it's been as cryptic as the Windows registry. 😛

Yes, /proc is a mess. But they're working on it. I think they have 3 /procs now. 😛

See what I mean? They're WORKING ON IT. It means it's not working and a mess. In fact I don't even know what /proc is. That's how archaic it is. With Macintosh, I know exactly what everything does and what to expect when I do something. In the end, that's what counts to 99.999% of the people out there, not some cheap looking low res jaggedy looking text on a black screen talking in computer language.

Actually, it means that it works but there is room for improvement.

In fact I don't even know what /proc is. That's how archaic it is.

Your ignorance is Linux's fault?

With Macintosh, I know exactly what everything does and what to expect when I do something.

I've found plenty of things on my Macs that I have absolutely no idea about.

In the end, that's what counts to 99.999% of the people out there, not some cheap looking low res jaggedy looking text on a black screen talking in computer language.

Huh? It's a command line. There's one in Mac OS X too, it's called Terminal.app. You know Mac OS X is a command line driven OS at the heart of it all, right?

I think you've simply run out of arguments against me and are using mere trickery to make yourself appear smarter than you really are.

Mac OS X is the best 64-bit OS there is and there's no doubt about it.

Huh? You haven't shown any arguments yet. Linux has a command line, so does Mac OS X. Mac OS X is a GUI on top of Darwin, which is a command line based OS. Look it up. 🙂

If you're worried about /proc, don't. I've rarely touched it, and I use Linux daily. 😉

It's the best for you, not the best. "The best" is subjective, not objective.
