Best 4g phones for t-mobile?

Want to purchase my phone separately and get a no-contract plan on t-mo.

I haven't paid attention to happenings in the phone world for about a year. Right now i have the Samsung Captivate. It finally became bearable once i put a custom rom on there, and i'm ok with doing that on my new phone too. The performance isn't that great, not that responsive, especially while there are podcasts or newsfeeds downloading.

So what are the top phones right now, that will work on t-mobile?

Oh, and preferably w/ ICS but i guess i can do a CM rom. Would a CyanogenMod ROM lack any sort of hardware acceleration or anything, that the stock phone would have?

And does the Galaxy Nexus run 4G on t-mo?

The international Galaxy Nexus works perfectly on T-Mobile's 4g. That's what I'm using right now. Just pop in your SIM card and it works.

Just keep in mind it's "only" 21Mbps, not 42. The T-mo SGS2 and that one HTC phone are the only ones that work with 42. It's plenty fast though. I usually get anywhere from 3-9 Mbps here in Chicagoland.

The only SGS2 that will work is T-Mobile's own version AFAIK. It uses the dual-core Snapdragon rather than the Exynos chip in order to support 42Mbps 4G.

Tmobile will have a white GSII on Dec 14th.

When will the Galaxy Nexus be released on t-mobile?

Maybe never. It looks like Verizon and AT&T (and maybe even US Cellular?) will get an LTE version of it. There's been no info leaked about any release for Sprint or T-Mobile. Your only option is to get the international version with no contract.

Thanks for the info. What are the best places to buy the international version? What do you think is a reasonable price to pay for that? it seems like it's around 700-800 dollars right now. That's more than most laptops.

I've zeroed in on the GNex because of the screen resolution, and it seems at least the intl version will work on tmo.

I doubt ATT will get the LTE version, AFAIK the LTE is exclusive on Verizon as its CDMA/LTE instead of GSM/LTE.
The GSM version will work on ATT or TMo just fine.
