Platinum OCZ, lower timings mean faster, BUT the ocz platinum is a terrible overclocker, I don't know about the XMS.....but ya if you are not gonna overclock, ocz platinum is good.

I'm curious why you think the platinum is a terrible overclocker? From what I understand, the timings can be changed and it can be overclocked just as well as the performance ram. I can believe that it can't be overclocked and kept at 2-3-2-5 timings but relaxing those to 3-3-3 should be simple, correct?

But what about the platinum that is the same price AR, would that be better, the same, or worse?

The Platinum is better memory.. tighter timings. Not a big deal, but facts say the Plat is better by a bit. Performance wise, you would be hard pressed to tell a real world difference.
They will both serve you well, but if you wish to do the small hassle of sending in the MIR for the $225 OCZ Platinum, by all means go for that stuff.

Ok, that was my question. I don't really care about the rebate as I do them all the time so one more is no big deal. I was just worried by an above post that somehow the plat would be worse for overclocking and general use than the performance. If so I would be kicking myself for paying MORE for something that did not work as well.

They are still unopened in there packaging at home so I can RMA them if I have to but at this point I will probably keep them. thanks!

Its what I read from reviews by people who bought it, it didn't bother me since I don't overclock. Matt2 is an overclocker and he bought this ram, you can msg him about how well they overclock.
