Best 22" lcd for gaming

Getting the final pieces together on the new system all that is left is the monitor. Decided to upgrade my 19 FP91G+ to a 22". What seems to be "THE" display now? GFX card is a 8800GTX and cpu is a Q6600.

Thanks for any and all advice!
 
Not to push you to spend more money but if you got your heart set on a 22" spend the extra $50 and get the LG L226WTQ. Its still the best on the market as far as 22" LCDs go. If you try getting something less you are going to have problems. Most of the 22" LCDs got ghosting problems. The Samsung 226 is the second best as far as I know but Samsung just released a new 22" that may give the LG a good run for the money.
 
the LG L226WTQ can be found at bestbuy for $309 and buying locally is always good since you don't have to pay shipping to return it for defects.

A little off topic and not to hijack the thread but is there any problems with games when you're running a widescreen resolution like 1680x1050? I know some games don't run in widescreen and would not look right. This still a problem or no longer?

You could always buy it from bestbuy.com and if there is a problem return it to any of their retail stores.
 
I can probably have my pc shop order it. They match prices well. Is this monitor worth it??

Despite being a 2MS display, there is very noticeable 'ghosting' images with this monitor. The monitor you really want is the L226WT without the 'Q.' You can see the serial number on the outside of the box.

Although the L226WT (non Q) has a higher ratedresponse time (5MS) it is SIGNIFICANTLY better than the L226WTQ. There were no ghosting issues with the NON-Q version and it has become my primary FPS gaming monitor with no ill effects.

Other thoughts:
+ color is good, more true than my previous monitor
+ there are many color adjustment options

- many games do not support widesreen, so the display is stretched slightly it does not bother me.
 
Get a 20", it will look better.

OR go all the way to 24", are those two inches on the same resolution really worth it?

Plus most if not all 22s are TN.

That's how I feel too. 22" is affordable and doesn't require SLI or Crossfire to get decent FPS in new games.

That review seems to have it all backwards. Everywhere I look, the Q is listed as the superior model.
 
I still use my old 19" monitor. 1280x1024 may seem low because people who have deep pockets (or less bills maybe?) can afford to buy the latest monitors and the hardware to back them up with good fps. I really can't, not right now anyway. I'm content to push AA to smooth things out for now. I can't really see upgrading when it's only a cosmetic difference and will not increase my system performance and might even make performance go down slightly to run higher resolution. When this monitor no longer works I will look into getting something with more size, at that point it's likely I will have new hardware to go with it anyway.

Yep, I own the dreaded "Q" model and love it. Nothing at all to complain about.
 
I also ordered a Flatron L226WTQ based on what xtknight recommends in the best LCD thread. I was also a little concerned with the Q version of this monitor after reading this thread and this review.

It seems that early versions (available only in the states?) suffered from "ghosting" in games, and were fixed in later versions with a BIOS update.

Hopefully I will be able to confirm if this is true in a few days.
 
Samsung 226bw or LG L226WT. You cant go wrong either way, since after calibration they are practically the same since TNs can't really "out do" another TN panel.
 
I really like my 22" Dell LCD. No ghosting what so ever and the quality is as good as it gets for a TN.
 
I have the L226WTQ version as well (WTQBF to be exact) and have no ghosting problems. What you want to look for is the units that have 1.14 or later software. Earlier versions had the ghosting problems. Not sure what the Y indicates. xtknight probably knows. I know its been mentioned in his htread above. I just forget what it means. Circuit City sells the WTQ versions. Normal list is $349 but they sometimes offer $30 rebates.

sorry but that makes no sense to me. panels made by different manufacturers look and perform differently whether they are TN or not. otherwise we might as well all just buy the cheapest model possible in each give size.
 
I'm in the same boat. Upgrading from a 19", looking at the SAMSUNG 226BW Black 22" or the LG L226WTQBF 22?
Used for gaming , movies, and HDTV in the future.
Not sure which to get
