Best 2-piece speakers?

I'm trying to find a really good set of 2-piece speakers for a little side project I'm working. I don't want a subwoofer; I just want a left and a right speaker with a minijack connection for a sound card. M-Audio and Altec Lansing seem to have some good offerings; anyone care to comment?

Companies don't really make great 2-piece speaker sets - there's more demand for 2.1's.

What do you want them for?
Why don't you want a sub?

I have heard good things about the Klipsch ProMedia Ultra 2.0 speakers. They may be what you're looking for.

Different project This is for a small TV system run from a computer.

$150 or less. I'm moving in a couple weeks and I won't have room for a full-on setup for the next year or so, but my parents have graciously allowed me to hook up my home theater stuff in the basement for them and for when I visit (I'm less than 30 minutes away, so movie weekends might work). So, I just need something simple for the time being.

On another note, since I won't be in an apartment anymore and since my HT will be in a basement, I can finally get a real subwoofer. Now I just have to convince my wife that I need a 10" Titanic kit for the system at my parent's house...

Swan M200's if you can squeze them in one of the better powered 2.0 sets out there for the money.

I think I am using some Spin-60 altec lansing speakers. They are OK, I Guess.

Bose? Bob Villa? If you wanted to bring out the poseur yuppies of speakers and home improvment, you can't get much more concentrated than that.

Nice clean setup. My setups are always so messy and ugly looking in comparison. By the way, you did know you can take the cloth grill off the Altec Lansing MX5020s right? They look a bit better that way, and I would postulate *probably* sound better as grills do little than muffle sound.

*Some* speakers have been designed for listening with the grill on however...NHT comes to mind.

Careful with dust though. In addition to keeping others from touching your drivers and tweeters, it also keeps things nice and clean

Thats the thing about playing your music loud. Your drivers will blow the dust off ^^

Besides, the outer edge of your speaker cones are not the drivers itself, but caps designed for dust. For cosmetics you can just walk over and blow the dust off occasionally : )

I believe the center is the dust cap...

Grill's muffling the sound. That's a good one. Better get 100% guaranteed non muffling. I notice collecting dust more than my speaker's drivers.
