any specific model? I'm building a new Uber Computer with 3.06Ghz P4 9700Pro and the works. including 2 WD 200GB SE HD's on RAID with Asus P4PE and I want the BEST monitor I can get. This is for a rich friend who is not very technologically inclined.

How about the one that MaximumPC always praises... the Sony GDM-F520 or the crazy Sony GDM-FW900

EDIT: Of course, the FW900 isn't a 21" monitor... haven't read or heard about Sony's new GDM-C520K but I'm sure that's just as nice as the F520. I have also looked at the NEC MultiSync FE2111SB (Black) at a friend's for extended periods and the visual output is beautiful.

does the FW900 have any issues with black bars in games? This is what he will be doing mostly on this rig.

The 19" Sony CPD-G420 or its 21" brother, the G520. With no cost barrier the G520 is a no-brainer.

Yes, unfortunately, the wide-screen FW900 will produce black bars... except for games that allow for 16:9 resolutions (ie: Quake III). I actually use the Sony CPD-G520 as my gaming monitor and love it. Mine was "Made in Japan" and it does tend to look much better than my friend's G520 which was "Made in Mexico." And that NEC 22" monitor I talked about earlier is cheaper than the G520... it may even look better than the G520 as well.
