I bought two Maxtor 40 GB 7200rpm ATA/133 drives for $91 each (at computer show). They are connected to ACard 6880, which supports ATA/133 and is less expensive than the big name brands. All works fine.

The way i see it, you have two good choices:

(a) Maxtor EIDE hard drive model # 6L040J2 40GB 7200RPM - OEM, DRIVE ONLY D740X Plus ATA133/100 2MB Cache Buffer <8ms Seek Time - 3 Year Manufacturer Warranty. 40.0gb 7200 rpm $84 + 10 shipping (Newegg.com)

(b) Seagate Barracuda IV ST340016A 40gb 7200rpm EIDE , 9ms Average Seek Time, Ultra ATA 100, OEM - 3 year manufacturer warranty 40.0 gb 7200 rpm $87 + 10 shipping (Newegg.com)

Go with option A for a slight edge in speed, or option B if having a quiet PC is your thing :)
