How can people be listing Braveheart and Saving Private Ryan? Those are on my list of the 10 worst movies of all time.

Why?

I second that "why"

I am a pretty harsh critic (normally hate alot) but those movies are great.

I fell asleep during Braveheart beacause it was so boring. Saving Private Ryan was even worse, just a few guys walking through a field for an hour.

I am going to assume that you didnt see the movie, because that is AT MOST a 10 minute scene.

You sir, have ZERO attention span.

Guys how about, instead of criticising other people's favorites, you post your own? People in this forum are of different nationality, age, etc. there is no way we can all agree.

BTW Saving Private Ryan was stupid! 😛

Braveheart was one of my fav's !!! Saving Private Ryan was very intense and sad,not my usual fare but a well done film nonetheless imho.

I would not call them the worst, but they are by no means close to the best. They might have been some of the biggest blockbusters, but ticket sales != best movie. Braveheart got on my nerves for some reason, and Saving Private Ryan was just another war movie, this time with great special effects.

While I appreciate these sorts of lists because they tend to generate discussion which results in publicizing some films that might have been otherwise overlooked, I think it's ridiculous to try to boil down over two decades of cinema into ten contenders without a well-defined set of criteria.

Their bias is obvious! They're British!

That's why we haven't seen any of these, its because we're Americans who like fast action and pletty of hot naked women over a good story line.

Those brits don't know what they're missing

(J/P 😛 )

Six or seven of the movies are American.....

Here is the top 10:

1. Apocalypse Now (Francis Ford Coppola, 1979)

Good movie, classic material. But #1? I don't think so

7. Blade Runner (Ridley Scott, 1982)

Defintely should be in the list 🙂

10. Once Upon A Time in America (Sergio Leone, 1983)

Why not? Altrough I think "The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly" is better.

There are IMO some notable movies missing from that list. Such as 2001: Space Odyssey and Das Boot

That Saving Private Ryan isn't there amazes me. But then, why would the British vote in a film that glorifies the US's part in WWII over their own?

SPR was definitely a great war-movie, but it was not THAT great! But of course, since SPR is not on the list, it must be somekind of anti-USA conspiracy

For one thing, they were released in 1972 and 1974, respectively.

Ok, my top 10 would be:

1.Goodfellas
2.Casino
3.Raging Bull
4.Heat(Gee, am I a DeNiro nut or what?)
5.Shawshank Redemption
6.Lion King(Crazy, but it IS a great piece of cinema IMO)
7.Blade Runner
8.Alien
9.Reservoir Dogs
10.Fast Times at Ridgemont High

Go ahead and pick me to pieces!

Peace

I like this list...I've seen all but the last three...my favorite from the list is probably Chungking Express. I probably would've thrown Pulp Fiction in there somewhere.
