Besides the LG G2, what would you get?

Nexus 5 or Note 3, but given the chance now I would still probably get the HTC One again.

Design is holding up really well, love the speakers and audio quality, use the infrared remote all the time, the camera still is pretty good even in daylight and still one of the best in low-light versus some of the newer phones, slow motion video, no lag even after several months of use, development has been quite competitive with some of the other flagship phones (I have dual-boot GPe and Sense 5), highest DPI screen of any smartphone (and one of the best overall), 32GB onboard storage is standard versus 16GB for some of the other phones, and the Media Link HD is the only Miracast streamer that works really well (that I know of). Awesome being able to both use my phone to stream content and mirror my phone to my television AND control my receiver, television, FiOS box, etc with ease.

Only downsides thus far: takes longer to charger than most phones, battery life is fairly average (lasts about as long as the S4's standard battery, but less than the G2, Moto X, DROIDs, and Nexus 5).

Otherwise the non-Android phones I'm interested in are the Lumia 1020 and 1520. Probably wouldn't buy any other phone over the One. Next year there might be some models that interest me, though.

I can't say, I have the LG G2 and it's great. I can't think of anything better with regards to battery life, camera quality, display size and quality, etc. The only cons for me are the back buttons, which I am now used to, or lack of a micro-sd card slot, or that it doesn't come with stock android which is only important for those that want that feature. I can live with LG's skin.

In it's size I don't really see a rival. Smaller the iPhone is a great choice, and larger the note 3 is also a great choice. The Nexxus 5 is cheaper, but it's not as good a phone imho.

Note 3, it's really the only phone that's better than the G2 right now, and if you are doing lots of videos then the G2 would be a better option because of the OIS.

You can wait for the G-flex. Should be LG G2 internals with a curved 720p display.

If money /travel/warranty is no longer problem and you really want the lg g2 with micro SD and/or removable battery, then (travel to Korea/eBay) and buy the Korean version of the lg g2 which has the those two options (only 2610mah instead of 3000mah

(in no particular order) Note 3, Nexus 5, Moto X

Personally I would not consider the HTC One at this stage but I am liking what I see in Sense 5.5 and I wouldn't stop anyone from getting it. Being in Play store in the form of Google Edition, I think the One has a long life expectancy.

Also I would love to see some Sony stuff. IMO they have right ideas on both hardware and software. They just need to build up and refine. (and mix/match correctly)

Oh? I did not know about it. Do you have a link, please?

Sony needs to increase their presence in the U.S. I don't see why they aren't marketing themselves better or pushing for a better position with the carriers here. They make some excellent high-end phones and there isn't a reason they can't compete against Samsung, LG, and HTC. There isn't another premium-only handset manufacturer here except for Apple. A handful of the people I know are even aware of Sony's smartphones. It's not like Sony is a tiny, unknown company, either: this a company getting a ton of press for launching a next-gen console and yet I can't remember the last time I saw someone with an Xperia.

i just switched from a one to a nexus 5, but really only because I liked the one so much that I want to get it's successor in the spring, and I know I can get more selling it now than holding on to it. the one is an incredible phone.

(look at the unboxing youtube video in link above)

at least $650+ on ebay, vs normal LG G2 @ $500+?

cheaper if you go to korea and buy it ( or know someone going to korea), (or $550 in hong kong from this guy. Wished I was going to hong kong anytime soon)

dunno about whether it's 100% compatible with regular LG G2 ROMS (from xda), or if anything else has changed/is inferior

EDIT2: from newegg, $787 + $10 shipping

The problem with that is the Korean version supports LTE 800/900/1800/2100/2600

AFAIK no current carriers in the US use those bands, with the exception being sprint which has a plan for using the 800MHz spectrum in certain markets.

So if you want the removable battery and SD card, don't expect LTE.

Note 3 for phablet, otherwise either Nexus 5 or Moto X (Or Maxx on Verizon). Maybe a One if you wanted the speakers.
Wouldn't touch a G2 or S4.

Depends on your needs. Hard to go wrong now that the X price is where it should have started.

there so many good choices, its more a question of what you can get the best deal on. i wouldnt be surprised of g2 was free on black friday, its already down for $50 isnt it

I guess the thing is the OP didn't specify what carrier he's on, if he's buying on contract or off, etc. Theses things would change opinions greatly if he had a set budget I reckon.

Verizon.
I have the LG G2.
One problem with this phone.
It is really fragile.
I broke mine last Friday when I got out of a car, and it was in my lap and hit the ground.
New one came Monday.
I broke that one last night.

I don't think the phone is the issue...

I have an Optimus G Pro. I'd only go up. Note 3 or nothing. Nexus 5 is too small and crippled with Google's design philosophy, and the G2 is too small and has that stupid back-button thing.

None of HTCs hardware has interested me since they stopped making hardware qwertys, and I also refuse to even consider a device without a uSD card, unless it's base storage is 64gb.

Going to try the phone one more time with the OtterBox case.

I have the otterbox defender series case for my G2. I dislike the built in screen protector so removed it and replaced it with tempered glass. Besides that small caveat its an excellent case.

If I didn't have the G2, I would have a nexus 5 first, and then a note 3 second. 3rd would probably be that new sony with the s800 in it, but can't remember the name offhand.

lol, this.

I was trying to decide between the Xperia Z1 and the LG G2 (and the Nexus 5).

In the end I realised I couldn't justify any of them for what I use my phone for and stuck with my galaxy S2 and just bought a new pair of batteries for it.
The nerd in me is disappointed but I just don't need a better phone.
