i'm still paying for my education and i'm 6 years removed from grad. here in Canada they have Canadian Student Loans (federal) and Ontario Student Loans (provincial). I utilized both to the max - they give you an amount each term corresponding to how much your parents make (they ask for all your parent / guardian income info). They repaid some of my interest after graduation. I think I still have 2 years or so left on my payments which are about $300/mo. The good thing now is that most of my payments are towards the principal amount so perhaps in a few years I will be free of the burden.
My wife has $0 debt - she has received grants & scholarships and worked her buns off to keep it that way. Usually when I got my loans deposited into my account, it was party time. eheh
edit: oh yes i can still kill a thread with the best of 'em!
