Because he does not believe in dynasty politics. Has kept complete distance from the campaign of his son and won't even ask people to vote for him.

This is also the only major politician in the country who does not perform oral services to the moneyed class. Does not go the Super PAC route like all his contemporaries.

There are still people of integrity left in this country. Regardless of the fact whether socialism can work in America (another debate entirely, or what even socialism is), you cannot but respect the guy

The senator declined to endorse his son when Levi announced his candidacy in February, and he’s still staying out of it; he says it’s for the sake of avoiding “dynasty politics.”

It's fine either way. I don't think anyone would have a problem with a father endorsing his son, which he basically did anyways. No need to demagogue every little thing.

Meh, that's just a sly viral covert endorsement.

His son's going to get much more press that way and they're looking like a friggin beacon of decency. He couldn't have gotten a more effective endorsement from his dad.

Dynasty politics? what are we a Monarchy here?. I didn't like the idea of a Bush family Dynasty, and I didn't like the possibility of Clinton family dynasty either. Dynasties don't belong here. We fought a war to get away from that nonsense.
I miss read the op. I'm glad Bernie agrees with me

Political dynasties have been all throughout the US since before there was a US. Everywhere. All the time.

They could have publicly announced it in February though if they wanted to use it as a covert endorsement. I agree that anyone running has to be able to do it on their own skills and knowledge, not on a family name. That would have stopped several people from ever becoming senators, let alone president.
