berkeley

I just added a bunch of machine to my Q on the 22nd, and was waiting for berkeley to come back up. Now as I can recieve at home and fill my Q there, I'm pissed because whenever I connect here, it waits a few seconds then says "wait", and if I ping, it says it timed out. This is ALL the time here. Any ideas? The darn thing just won't work and I have results to send and WU's to fill. Its a crime I have about 18 P4's sitting here doing nothing!

One thing you can do while you can't connect is fire up another DC project, IMHO.

Read the Mod's thread, and if you find one that you like fire it up.

can you access their web site and everything? I am currently dumping a few leftovers from my queue, so I know they're up and running, but if you can't connect through the ping feature of sq, you may have other problems. You can try an nslookup on their site and try to ping it manually... May be a routing problem.

/me hates wasted cpu cycles.

Hi smokey7722,

As LastKnight said, the logjam seems to have been broken as of last night! Can you point a client directly to Berkley and get a WU? Try pointing to one of the Public Proxies and see if that will work for you. Find a list of proxies here.

Good luck and keep us posted!

I can get to the site fine, so I know that isn't it, I will try connecting a client directly to the web.

Will let you know.

Can't connect to server; will retry in an hour is what I get on the clients every time. DAMNIT! Ok, now I need a Q that works and has about 150WU's they can send.

Well, problem is fixed something in the firewall here, I went in and it was blocking all pings, i bypassed for the berkeley one so my SetiQ will work. Downloading WU's now like mad and sending in the results. Now have 4 machines already out of 18 that have WU's and only 14 naked machines waiting. Will have plenty of extra wu's when done and will be cranking these things out!

the p4 1.7ghz's that i have here put about a wu about every 5 hrs, even when they're doing other stuff, so make sure your queue has plenty of wu's behind it, I don't think berkeley's done with their upgrades quite yet.

Even at 5*18, looks like the fleet will be chugging along at around 90 wu's a day, and they'll likely do more than that if they have more idle time.

WU! WU! WU!

The machines are there to run SETI only. They aren't used at all for any other reason. I took pictures of the setup, but I have to post them online. That is the Part2 fleet, at school, then I have another P4 1.7 at work which as you said, yes does one every 5 hours. Then I have two machines at home that run at 3 hours or so a pop. Athlon XP 1800+ and 2000+. I want to get over 100 WU's a day, thats what I'm working for. And I will do it since I just got another 11 P4 1.7's that I can use and POSSIBLY 4 more to that. Now I need a larger switch!

I had 5 machines cracking WU . I have shut them down, I cannot get any uploaded or downloaded.

Bleep

We have now, once again, moved above the 30 MBit level. I am getting through to Berk right now. Hope you see this reply and give it a go right now. 😉

I've been dumping and reloading since my first post saying I got it working. Tonight I saw a massive jump (10-20) within 20 minutes, so I know my SetiQ is working at the school location. Here, I've had 30 results waiting to dump, came home to find i sent my last wu out to my 2nd machine and my 1st machine (the fast one of course), was sitting idle!!! :| Luckily only for about 20-30 minutes but still! My fastest wu on this machine was 3 hours so that would have been 1/6 of a wu. So as of right now, i have 5 left to dump here, and still reloading with new wu's.

That's less downtime than my XP had today, for the 1st time got SETI running on Win2k last night(smokeball, yeah I finally got Win2k to run!

) ,only to find this afternoon that it wasn't able to connect to SETIQ & has been idle since the early hours of this morning:|.

Wth is Win2k's problem anyway!? ,the IP add & port No were in the commandline for SETI so why didnt it connect?😕
