"Barkley" is the correct pronunciation as the city of Berkeley was named after George Berkeley; and since it's his name, he can say it however he wants.

Thank you helpful person. So it's not even a rule and we pronounce it wrong in the US.

The city of Berkeley, California, was named after him, although the pronunciation has evolved to suit American English: ( /ˈbɜrkliː/ burk-lee).

yet another "t" Lean L thread where he proves he is not very bright?
what's the "t" stand for? Troll maybe?
possibly, one of the dumbest threads I have the displeasure of opening.
Another thread backfire by Lean L (aka iamanidiot)
Seriously, nearly every thread he makes, he has to ask something retarded. Then when he gets called out on it....hell, even when someone posts something he doesn't agree with, he immediately gets defensive and starts insulting people.
What a loser.
Flame war aside, what is the answer to the OP's question whichis, basically: Why do Brits pronounce Berkeley as bahrk-lee? When I feed it into the british accent bot in my brain, it comes out: bAIRklee with a bit of a nasal harrumph at the end.
