things will be good again on the SETI project homefront :)

Eric Korpela did post something on alt.sci.seti (either Mon. or yesterday) alluding to that... :)

I just hope that they will communicate this to the masses a little better. From what I've seen on Ars, things are getting a bit antsy over there regarding their feelings about the stats situation. :(

Hi Poof and everyone,

Here is the details of the extremely good news for the SETI project that should put to rest the bandwidth bottleneck for good.

From Dr David Anderson - Director of SETI@Home;

You're welcome to tell people about our 100 Mbps pipe.
We had a lengthy meeting this morning with the Campus Network Services
office, and it looks like it's all going to work, though it turns out
that want to charge us another $1K/month for using the link from
Berkeley to Palo Alto, where we connect to Cogent.
But that's still a lot less than $6K/month for 20Mbps on Qwest.

-- David

Cogent.com has a Fiber Optic ring through many of the major cities around the U.S.

WOW! :D ,

Dave if you had started a seperate thread about this I'm sure you would of been blitzed by the responses! ;)
That is amazingly good news :D..........so when's it happening? where did you see that info?

Btw that 6k/mth they mentioned for the qwest ,is that what they are paying atm? ,if so that would been them saving 5k/mth! ,hmmm can you S@H2?
