Beretta 92 Or Taurus PT-92?

Which one to get? They both look almost identical. Taurus is about $150 cheaper. What about performance? Anyone have any experience with either one of these? Thanks.

I have shot the Beretta 92 and it is sweet, however I liked the Glock more. I think the H&K USP pistols are the best.

Beretta pistols are crap. I wouldn't buy a pistol made by them or one that was based on their designs. Get a Glock, a Springfield XD, or an H&K USP.

Just looked those up. Got some very nice designs. I'll consider those.

SiG P226, IMO, has the better trigger than those guns. I'd also consider CZ 75B/75BD, as you can find one for $400 or less, but again, I like the P226's trigger better than CZ's. I own a CZ75BD. Glocks have the worst trigger IMO.

i thought this was a thread about cars at first.

I shall make my exit cause i don't know much about guns. But the idea of shooting at a shatty Ford auto with a gun entertains me.

As others have suggested, get something other than a Beretta.

I happen to own one and it will be the last. The only reason I bought it was that I got a really good deal.

He could spend the money he saved by not buying a SIG on a trigger job for a Glock. 😉

To answer your question, they both identical so if you are dead set on Beretta go with Taurus instead.

I do agree that there are better guns out there in the price range. The argument of Glock vs Sig vs H&K is a waste of time since a lot depends on shooter's preferences. I personally favor Glocks, but not because I consider them superior to Sig or H&K, but because I really like the way it fits my hand (handgrip curve is very comfortable and similar to Luger P08).

Just curious, how much did you list your 17 for? I am at work and can't browse any gun related sites.

Beretta is a pretty good handgun for movies and TV, but in the real world there are better pistols for the same money or less. The CZ75b is superior in every meaningful way. Much more accurate, just as reliable, better ergonomics, better trigger once it's broken in. Walther p99 is a better gun also, better than the Glock or the XD too. Sig 226 pretty much blows the 92fs away too though it costs a bit more - but I'd rather have a Sig with 5000 rounds through it than a brand new Beretta.

Regarding the Taurus: cheap knock-offs are okay if you're talking shoes, sunglasses and handbags - NOT a weapon you may have to trust your life to.

Beretta. My first handgun was a Taurus PT92 and while it was a very reliable gun and very pleasant to shoot it just wasn't as refined as the Beretta. Still, while I think the Beretta is a great gun I've never owned this particular weapon.

I do have a Glock 17 that I think is a much simpler and more reliable design. It is easy to take down for cleaning and I can't recall it ever failing to feed or eject a round in the almost 10 years I've owned it now. I have 4 17 round magazines for it and they also have been flawless.

I would try out a couple different guns and see which you like best. You really couldn't go wrong with any of the suggestions here. It just comes down to personal preference.
