I got an ad from E-cost the other day listing these speakers (among other things) for $17 but when I went to E-cost they showed up as $9.99 (for the grey ones, $21.80 for black).
When they came out in 1999 they went for, ~$90, now generally found for ~$30.
Reviews list weaknesses as weak base and slightly tinny sound, strengths are overall value and looks. Seems like a good deal for non-audiophiles or folks that don't need to rattle the windows.

This is not a thread crap, but does anyone else have these speakers?
After shipping and handling they are $20. For $30 I can get Altec Lansings from Sam's Club.

Please note that these speakers would be for my father in-law and he doesn't even care about PC sound quality. Since he doesn't really care I could get him any old pair of cheap speakers. If I could find amplified speakers for less than $20 I would probably buy those.

Your reply is greatly appreciated.

thanks,

Got the Benwin Flat Panel BW2000 Speakers with a PC I was given, and comparing them against a set of Altec-Lansing ACS-33's I have, the Altecs have significantly better output with better subwoofer. Of course these are no comparison to the Logitech z560's I just got.

Heard these in person at a computer show last weekend. Not going to impress a true audiophile, but they still had a full sound and beat the snot out of most OEM stuff. To tell you the truth, I almost bought a set at the show for $20. Kinda glad I waited....let's see if I can buy a couple sets and get the per-unit shipping down.

Shipping and handling end up bumping up the price to $20 shipped, total. Plus, you can only order one (at a time), so you can't save on multi-unit shipments.. otherwise, I was gonna hop all over this thing..
