You should definitely report it in both the FS/FT forum, and directly to the other party. They can be straightened, most times, but occasionally they break when straightened. Ask the person you bought the chip from whether he wants to give you a refund, or whether he wants you to try to straighten the pins yourself, and give you a refund if any of them break. It was his fault that it arrived with bent pins, so it's his responsibilty to refund your money, if that's what you want him to do.

Try to fix the pins and if they bend back into place tell him they broke anyways so that he learns his lesson. JK :) Depending on who it is they will probably blame it on shipping which may or may not be the case. Good luck!

Yeah...Someone just returned a A64-3200 to me from EBAY for testing....they stated that the processor would not work. Just received it today and found 2 bent pins....GRRR. Worked fine before I sent it out, now that want their money back.

Well, the point of all of this is that it's the shipper's responsibility to get the product to the person buying it, without damage. If it had been packaged right, it couldn't have been damaged by shipping, unless the box was destroyed, and then obviously the receivee would have refused to accept the package.

I have pent pins a few times before. I was able to unbend them just fine. They worked just fine. You shouldn't have no problems if you unbend them. Just do not break them. :)

thanks alot guys for responding to my question. I let him know and he thinks I can bend them back without a problem. And I am going to give it a very gentle try.

it took 30 mins but I managed to bend them back good enough to get the processor into place. When the shipper packed it he put it into flash card package that was a bit too small and bent 6 or so pins on each corner. It is in now, I just hope it works. Thanks for the feedback guys

Are the pins on the A64's as thin as S478 P4's? 'cause those things are a PITA to bend back, and usually do break if it's been bent past 60D. What's weird is I've actually received a retail P4 with pins slightly bent.

All the ones that I've bent back have worked without any problems.
