Bent Pins Help!

I uhhh accidently bent the pins for my socket 939 in my ASUS "A8V Deluxe" VIA K8T800 Pro motherboard.

I got a friend to supposably striaghten them out under a microscope, but should I try to see if it works?

I don't want my processor fried.

Any help would be great for this n00b.<-----

At this point, you have nothing to lose. Examine the whole field of pins under a magnifying glass to be sure they are all straight. When you look at them at an angle, you may be able to spot any pins that aren't lined up.

When you are sure everything looks straight, be VERY careful inserting the chip into the socket, and DO NOT force them in any way. If it goes in easily, you can test it to see if it works.

I had the same thign happen to my 3500+... I knew i had nothing to lose, so I held it upside-down in my hand and used a nice thick peice of steel from my old Antec case to bend them all back into palce. Not the smartest thing to do, but it worked!

Another good tip I heard: use the hollow tip of a good mechanical pencil (metal tip, Kohinoor maybe) and slip it over the pins to give you good 360° control.

That will onyl work for older processors with less pins, not the tiny pins of the 939's
