Note that the war theme was used because the MP3 player is a dogtag. What more well known recent image could they have used for war other than the fallen WTC? It was a well known building and a very well known event. It's not that far fetched.

Last I remembered, there was a nationally debuted movie that exploited 9/11 for profit.

What is the difference between benq make a profit in contrast to any other company (like the one who made the movie)?

I agree it is morally wrong, but it's been done before and the majority of our citizens justified 9/11 exploitation when they spent money on anything that had to do with 9/11.... ie. flags, bumper stickers, "these colors don't run" t-shirts, etc.

I'm pretty jaded and usually don't get too emotional over things, but this was definitely tasteless. As for other uses of 9/11 to sell things, from American flags to movies, those are equally tasteless and I refuse to see those movies or buy those stupid magnets. Profiting on something like that is disgusting.

Fine. That's you. But seeing the movie was a surreal experience for me and I actually broke down in tears while watching it. I don't think there was a dry eye in theater when we left.

9/11 wasn't quite within my grasp from far away here in NC and seeing talking heads analyze it on TV networks...watching it on the big screen and from their perspective, the people that were actually there...their stories, really floored me.

I had a similar experience with Schindler's List

The real question is... where did the profits go?

If the profits went to some kind of chairty fund, then great. I'm all over this movie.

If the profits were pocketed by the studio, then fvck the sick bastards for exploiting a serious event.

Exactly. IMO, this is nothing compared to the movies that made money off 9/11.

The 9/11 movies were telling the story of what happened on that day. I went to see 9/11 the movie and was really shook up over it.

This ad makes completely no sense whatsover in relation to 9/11.

It'd be like an ad putting an Xbox 360 in Hiroshima in 1945 Japan with a nuclear bomb going off in the background and the Xbox 360's image etched into a nearby wall from the blast.

Both the movies and benQ are using the images to make money, so saying that it's ok for the movies to use it and not ok for BenQ to use it is stupid.

I'm sure Nicholas Cage gave all of the money he made from the movie to charity too!
