Great price as always, but So So Drive. Pioneer and NEC are better.

Again, Great Deal!

lol so you own(have owned) all 3 of those manufacturers' latest(or one gen back) dvd burners..? *edit typo*

Yes I've owned the PIONEER 107 and now PIONEER 109 and it's the Best even compared to SONY. As far as why BenQ is SoSo, got that data from a review posted here on Anandtech. See my ohter post for link to the review.

So you own the Pioneer and have no experience with the Benq model yourself yet you say it's a so so drive. Nice. :disgust:

I love refurbish, think I'm going to buy it at least I'll have something to play with when I'm bored.

i just got one of these from cheifvalue. great drive. my pie/pif scans are excellent using TY02 DVD+R & the Verbatims (MMC 003) i got from Amazon.

runs circles around my nec 3500a.

I have one of these (DW1620Pro) along with an NEC3520, and previously had a NEC 3500.

I prefer the BenQ to all of the DVD Burning capable drives I have used. Very accurate with a no/low coaster creation rate. Quieter than my NEC, and just as fast. Maybe the pioneer is better, but I have burned on Cheap DVD+R, DVD-R media with no issues. I have not used any rewriteable media because if I burn something I wouldn't reburn it often and DVD media is becoming cheap. I believe most of the reviews for DVD Drives can be taken with a grain of salt (as can this one). For under 50 bucks, this is a fabolous deal on the benQ drive.

I agree that these are awesome drives. I have two in my computer right now. I have used a 3500a also and the 1620 has better quality scans, at least in my experience. I have no experience with the new pioneers, although I have Pioneer A05 (4x dvd-r only) that still burns well. Any review that I have read about this drive has been positive. Just my 2cents.

That is good to hear, I would have thought that this is just another average burner like liteon or sony. I think I'm convinced that this is a good burner.
