Benchmarking... what do I use?

I assume all the "real-world" benchmarks (not Futuremark garbage) means I need to actually own various titles and such... or does it?

Are things like the Crysis benchmark the actual full game, or something else (downloadable)?

CoJ has a stand alone benchmark

so does WiC

Stalker Clear Sky has a new one as well as PT boats .. X3-TC also

do an internet search .. there are many benchmarking tools that are free and do not require the game
 
You can download the Crysis demo for free, and that'll let you run the CPU and GPU benchmarks for it.
