Benchmarking my system?

I bought a Dell, and it arrived yesterday, and I want to see how it compares with other systems.

Here are my specs:

P4 540 3.2GHz
1gb SDRAM
GeForce 6800nu
250gb HDD
5.1 Surround-Audigy something or other

So, I want to download Riva Tuner, but I am not quite sure how to use it and what not, and I also want to check my drivers and make sure they are the latest. And will RivaTuner be able to tell me if I can unlock any pipelines and whatnot?

Just to tell you guys, I instaleld FarCry, and downloaded a program called Fraps. It told me I was getting between 120 and 40 FPS, with an avg of about 80-90 FPS. I figured this is pretty good, so I am happy, but I want to see what else I can do to test my system.

Thanks for the help.

The new beta 71.24 drivers are incompatible with the new Rivatuner. I'm using the 71.20. Do a search for Rivatuner here. I went into complete detail on how to unlock the pipes and vertex shader.

OK, but I need to check which Drivers I have currently. I'm not quite sure how to do that?

go to your control panel, double click system, click on the hardware tab, then go to device manager. click the plus sign next to your display adapters..double click Nvidia Geforce 6800. Now click the driver tab and it will show you the driver version.

For detailed specs on how to do the unlocking go here:

Alright, I have the 66.72 drivers from nVidia. Will there be problems for me to switch to a Beta version driver, rather than an Official driver? And my video card had 325/600 for speeds. Is that the normal for not having done anything to it?

Also, I was looking through the guide y ou posted, and I got to the

"7. Look at line displaying "SW units mask". If you see "none" there, it means that VGA BIOS allow activating all non-hardware masked GPU pixel / vertex units, so your configuration is determined by hardware. In this case, I strictly recommend you to forget about softmodding if you are beginner and if you don't understand what do you do exactly. Power users may proceed and try to activate hardware masked units. If you see something different there (for example, pixel 0001b, vertex 000000b) - you have high chances to unlock software locked units. "

Part. I don;t even see an SW Units Mask category. This is what I have:

$1100000000 Title : nv41 p260 sku4 VGA BIOS
$1100000002 Version : 5.41.02.17.25
$1100000100 BIT version : 1.00
$1100000200 Core clock : 325MHz
$1100000201 Memory clock : 600MHz
$1100010000 Perf. level 0 : 325MHz/300MHz
$1100010001 Perf. level 1 : 325MHz/300MHz

And I just found out that my Memory Clock speed of 600MHz is low for standards. Is this going to affecet unlocking the pipelines?

Bad news .... in your RivaTuner output above you have the NV41 6800 vanilla (PCI-E). I'm pretty sure the NV41 cannot be softmodded as it doesn't have any disabled pipelines ... meaning that GPU is fabricated with only 12 pipelines and 5 vertex units. The memory should be at 700 Mhz so you can try clocking that up ... Dell gets special made versions of cards though (i.e. 6800 GTO) so that may be the true default for this OEM card.

Only good news is that the NV41 actually supports WMVHD acceleration :p

So I should not even bother with trying to softMod? And yes, I think I have the 6800 GTO. I was messing with the speeds, and I can play FarCry fine on 370/760, so I am going to continue increasing until it gies me problems, or else I will stop around 400/800.
