In the RtCW readme it states that demo recording doesn't work right in SP or MP. Well I've been told that while that's true for SP (haven't checked yet), I just got done recording and benchmarking (getting a new video card on Wed so I wanna compare) in MP so I thought I'd share for those that were wanting to do so. First go into the 'main' folder where you have rtcw installed and open up your autoexec.cfg and paste this into it:
//MP demo recording
bind "F8" vstr demo_button
set demo_button_1 "set demo_button vstr demo_button_0;set g_syncronousclients 1; wait ; record ;wait ;set g_syncronousclients 0 ;echo recording"
set demo_button_0 "set demo_button vstr demo_button_1;set g_syncronousclients 0; wait ; stoprecord ; echo stoprecording"
vstr demo_button_0
Now when you're playing in Wolf MP just hit F8 to start recording and F8 to stop recording. It'll name them demo0000, demo0001 and so on. I realize what to do next is common knowledge to pretty much anyone with Q3 but for those that don't know... When you want to do some benchmarking bring down the console and type 'Timedemo 1' and hit enter, then type 'demo demo0000' (or whatever the demo is you want to run) and hit enter. Once it's done bring down the console to see your average frames.
I recorded 4 demos. So if you want to either be lazy and not record your own or compare your scores to mine I've uploaded them to my webspace. Though I doubt this would happen, please don't kill my bandwidth or spread the links around, spreading the demos themselves around would be cool though (even though I suck in most of em
).
Here they are: Zdemo1 Zdemo2 Zdemo3 Zdemo4
As for my scores I have every option on the highest setting except I'm in 16 bit color (because I'm still using a GF256 SDR
) at 1024x768.
Zdemo1: 42.5
Zdemo2: 28
Zdemo3: 39.4
Zdemo4: 45.8
Hope this helped some people
EDIT: oh yeah if you're not gonna record your own, those demos go into 'wherever you have it installed'\Return to Castle Wolfenstein\Main\demos
