Benchmarking in Q3...

I've got my settings as follows

32 bit
Trilinear
everything on high detail
1024 X 768

I'm getting a very very steady 90 fps, not a single frame more. I disabled v sync in the advanced properties section on the display properties applet, is there a setting somewhere else that is bottlenecking my setup? I can change everything to the lowest settings at 600 x 800 and it still gives a steady 90 fps.
I'm running a
Duron 600 oc'ed to 950
Geforce 2 GTS 32mb
Abit KT7
128 Megs of PC133 clocked @ cas 2
adaptec 2940UW
seagate 9.1 Barracuda 7200 scsi

Any ideas?

I think quake 3 has its own vsync setting, but I am not sure if and how to disable it.

btw...is 90 fps really that bad, I have a similar setup, and I am perfectly happy with it.

I did not think this would ever happen to me but I forgot how to benchmark in Quake 3! Ran so many benchmarks back then and now I just plain forgot how to do it... :-(
Can you give me the console commands pls?

goto quake3 directory and look for q3config file somewhere in there.

then look for this: seta com_maxfps "150"

set the number to what ever u want it to be.

have fun 😉

90fps is exacly twice as much as I get(give or take 5 fps) I sure dont complain about it. 90fps must be fine I dont see why you might want more. Seting the max fps realy high can make your pings bad on then net though.

Thanks guys, I'm not really hungry for more frames, I'm just wanting to see what I would peak at. Thanks for the good info!

Mustang: Q3 actually disables the com_maxfps command when timedemo 1 is active

it's a vsync setting in Q3 I bet. vsync isn't as easy to disable as one may think, heh...
