benchmark tools

The best benchmark is just to see how the system feels during various tasks. If you need numbers, take rendering/encoding times or frame rates in games.

Some synthetic benchmarks used around here are the 3DMocks, Aquamark, and Sandra. Don't expect any benchmark like these to be really representative of your real-world performance (this is why we don't use them a lot).
 
the reason i ask is that i just built a new comp. and i don't know how should i compare it. wheather it works fine or wheather it could use some improvement. or maybe something is wrong and there is a big bottleneck. so how do i test all this?
