Benchmark Results!

Hi there, I'm running on a 2000+ Athlon XP, 512MB of DDR266, Radeon8500LE 128MB, MSI KT3Ultra2 Mobo. I've been running the Quake 3 bench on my system but I can't seem to break the 200fps barrier at default settings(No OC'ing, 1024x768, normal quality) I get 191fps. I've seen reviews on the net where the exact same system specs produce 200fps+ comfortably. Plus my buddy's 2.0A P4 with 768MB PC133 SDRAM with the same card gets 216fps at default settings! Does Q3 perform better on P4s? Or is it that P4s have better optimizations for opengl than AthlonXPs? I've performed all system, graphic card tweaks I know of (all settings to performance, vsync off, etc, etc).
Also I get 8932 3DMarks in 3DMark2001se (default settings) while mu buddy gets 8140! However he scores 56fps avg. in the nature test while I score 50fps? Can anyone make any sense out of this?

Q3 does perform better on P4's.

Hey, if it makes you feel any better, I'm only getting 162fps with my 9700pro/2200+................with 6x FSAA/16x ansio 😀

Anyway, have you installed the latest drivers for everything? That helps.

Use the UT2k3 as a benchmark for D3D, not 3DMark. If you don't have the game, download the demo. 3DMark = terrible.

All drivers are up to date - Catalyst 2.3.

I don't get it. Please explain! Why is UT2K3 a better DX benchmark than 3DMark? Coz I already have the demo and I have run the benchmarks.

there isn't anything to "get". 3DMark isn't a good benchmark, it is inaccurate, it is not depandable. You are lucky I was nice about it, usually I flame the crap out of people who use 3DMark as a valid benchmark, I was nice since you posted Q3A scores.

Ya, lucky for you that you didn't title your thread with something like "3D Mark Scores" and then only have those benchies in your message. Deeko would have shown you no mercy!😀
