Bench XT

I ordered the proform xt bench and I am following the instructions and using the parts they are saying to use but the screws are not getting tight. Don’t understand why not

Not a lot of details here. Is it a screw going through to a nut? If so you need to put a wrench on the nut too.

If it's a threaded hole, then you may have crossthreaded it or don't have the bolt lined up.
