Bench Testing

EndBoards

Junior Member
I've been having problems with my Mobo and am about to get an RMA from the manufacturer. Before giving me the number though, the tech support guy asked me to take the mobo out of my case and test it on a bench. I've never had to do this (I only build machines every two years or so and rarely have troubles) so what all does this involve? My guess that he just wants me to take the board out of the case and sit in on a non-conductive surface (like the box that the mobo came in) just to ensure that nothing is shorting out to my case...

Am I on the right track here?

You've got it. Install just the cpu, a video card and some ram. Hook up the power supply and the power on connector and give it a go. Make sure the CPU fan is installed and connected.
