Bench Running a PC

Just wondering if it's safe to bench run (no case) a PC on a cardboard box for extended periods of time. I have a personal 1ft diameter fan blowing over the board for ventilation. By entended periods of time i mean, long enough to install winxp so approx 40-50min.

Thanks

I've got a bench rig that's been running for 3 weeks.

Just put it on top of the anti-static bag it came with, with some thin styrofoam padding underneath it, then set all that on top of a cardboard box at least an inch high. The box it came in will work perfectly.

Elevating it will save you the trouble of removing the backplates from the PCI/AGP cards which would otherwise hit the desk and not install fully.

I've run a bare board on top of a PSU, CD drive, foam, other stuff for months... until the capacitors decided they hated working.
