i weigh 70Kg (154lbs) roughly....im a swimmer.

training was cancelled today so me n my mate went to the gym. we started on the bench presses.

im told the bar weighs about 20kg (44lbs) on its own, and then i added another 30Kg (66lbs). i could just about manage 3 sets of 10reps like that and 2 sets of 5 reps with a further 10kg (22lbs)

so can i / do i count that as benching about 50-60Kg (110-132lbs)? that any good with regards to my weight? this is first time ive bench pressed. usually stay away from it and use pectoral machine or something instead.

I think most people would define it as being able to bench your weight. However, most people can either do less or more (I'm talking about quite a bit, not just 10-15lbs).

That's pretty decent for your first time. It took me about 8 months of training to be able to bench my weight. But then again, I didn't do the crazy workout diet, otherwise I could've probably gotten there faster.
