Esis: I most likely have more computer knowledge than you. Pretty poor for an adult cosidering i'm 15. You're pretty stupid for your age it seems. You and voodoosupreme are two members anandtech dosent need. You dont have to be certified in a subject to know alot about it. If you think that you are truly foolish. Why dont you just go away?

Let me snag this quote offa my ArsTechnica's T-shirt:

"...You don't need to know everything, you only need to know what's important!..."

I don't mind a show but it would've been easier for VoodooExtreme and BenSkywalker to settle this squabble in the comfort of the their e-mail boxes.

Just my take, but anyone who spouts off their opinions (not a bad thing, but must be substantiated) should at the very least enable their profile so one knows who one's dealing with.

I know it's not a req'ment in all other Forums w/exception to For Sale/Trade.

I'll leave it at that.

Doomguy:

"Voodoo and Orbious are known zealots"

ROFL!!!

uh....."pot - kettle - black ?"

what a riot

and nvidia's FSAA still drags behind the 5500s. Don't try to tell me otherwise. I have both cards. It's not a comparison.

Orbius:

"Thats very concilliatory of you Ben, damn this is very friendly, I bet after a few beers you'd even admit that the Geforces T&L isnt worth a damn "

hahaha.....yeah, but it'd take SEVERAL....like, where 250lb chicks start looking like Cindy Crawford...

Doomguy:

"Esis: Please go away. I cant believe you defend such a troll and asshole. We dont need members like you and voodoo. "

and aside from ripping apart anyoen who dare not worship the GeForce God, what do you contribute so heavily to?

"Esis: I most likely have more computer knowledge than you. Pretty poor for an adult cosidering i'm 15."

indeed, just as I figured.

"You're pretty stupid for your age it seems. "

and your wisdom is the equal of your age it seems.

When you were 15 you were probobly a dug using stupid looser so i'm starting way ahead of you. According the reviews nvidia's 2x2 FSAA is equal to 3dfx's 4x fsaa with the 6.18 drivers.

Doomguy:

"..you were probobly a dug using stupid looser "

a dug using stupid looser, eh?

1) Your immaturity never fails to shine through
2) I didn't use drugs, and I wasn't a loser (nor did I use dugs, and I wasn't a looser)

"you're an inmature 12 year that has nothing better to do than piss everyone off. "

what, so he's 3 years younger than you? *rofl*

"According the reviews nvidia's 2x2 FSAA is equal to 3dfx's 4x fsaa with the 6.18 drivers. "

1) 6.18 is very unstable for many many people
2) I've owned both cards (including a 32MB GTS)
3) Comparing 2x2 lodbias FSAA on the GTS to the 4x on a 5500 is wrong. The visual quality difference between the 2 is almost laughable. I don't even bother trying to use FSAA on my GTS, cuz it plain bites.

and besides, there is more to a video card's usefulness than simple benchmarks. Thanks for playing tho. Hark? Do I hear your Mommy calling you? time for lunch? Mom made grilled cheese? Oh yummy! Can I eat over at your house?

:)

I respectfully disagree. I think if person A challenges person B on a public board, B has every right to refute it in the same forum. And person C does not have to read it. ;)

well, despite the fact that Ben and I have disagreed on about 30 different things, I've found him to be quite respectable in his discussions. VS, perhaps the reason you find him so crass is because, maybe, you are to him what Doomguy is to me...an obnoxious little mosquito who resorts to silliness instead of rationally discussing facts.

I mean, I think the 5500 kicks ass, but your first line in the other post "we all know that the GeForce cards have the crappiest visual quality"....I mean, c'mon....that's just BEGGING for an attack, especially with a name like "VoodooSupreme" and especially considering the strong nvidia bend these forums have.

Clue in bud. Take a look at y'self b4 you start throwing insults elsewhere. :)

I think you guys are a joke. I can't believe Ben even wasted his time to reply to this thread. Whether you agree with his opinions or not doesn't matter. Ben is a very knowledgeable person in the area of 3D graphics, and like it or not, he knows a hell of alot more than most of you guys. Who cares if he has a ton of degrees and training, or he just learned it on his own. I think if he went out and learned all that stuff on his own, that is even more impressive than if he learned it all in a classroom. Ben helps A LOT of people in this forum, so we should be happy that we have someone like him, otherwise we would have to rely on people like Voodoo Extreme to get feedback from...no thanks. He also doesn't resort to ignorant and childish personal attacks, even when others are doing exactly the same to him. If you think a V5 is better and Ben thinks the GTS is better, so what. All that matters is what you think is better since you are the one using the card. Instead of just being happy, and enjoying your card, you waste time starting thread wars like this. The manner in which you guys reply to this thread speaks volumes about your own ignorance.:|

While I don't consider myself to be anywhere near an expert on 3d issues, I believe I can read and comprehend as well as or better than anyone in this forum.
What seems crystal clear to me is that Ben Skywalker is quite a bit more knowledgeable in the area of 3d graphics and computers in general than most of us, including Voodoo Supreme.
I don't care if he has a degree in 3d graphics or not.....I doubt many programmers over the age of 30 have similar degrees, since they simply weren't widely available when they were in school. However, has anyone ever heard of on the job training or learning by yourself? There are many people in many fields that have no formal education but know just as much as people who do.
You can pull certain numbers that favor the cards you prefer out of any tests published. If that makes you happy and makes you feel superior for having bought whatever card you choose, great. I suppose everyone likes to read good things about any item they just spent hundreds of dollars on.
From what I've seen, Voodoo supreme seems to refer to tests and articles he has read and use these to support his case for the V5.
Every response I have seen that Ben has posted includes each point he disputes cut and pasted separately with his specific response.
Then it seems Voodoo comes back calling names, asking for credentials, etc., but never responds in a civil manner with specific rebuttals. It's obvious Voodoo doesn't agree with Ben, but has no way of providing any technical information on the subject, so he resorts to name calling and ranting and raving.
Basically, Voodoo, you don't like Ben because you can't argue on the same level with him. He comes across as arrogant to you because he makes statements/arguments that refute what you say, but you have no answer for it.
My advice is to either learn more about your topic, or just say "ok, I don't agree with Ben but I can't explain why and I really like my Voodoo 5 card" and move on.
