Shanks in a landslide.

Definitely. On that subject though, Shanks is pretty much a One Character kinda Actor. Saw him in some Low Budget SciFi Movie and that Character was indistinguishable from Jackson.

That said, how about James Spader(from the original Movie) vs Michael Shanks?

IMO, that's a much more difficult comparison because they both play Jackson very similarly. The Movie and the Series also have a very different Feel, also adding to the complexity of the choice. I think I'd still go with Shanks for the series due to the overall difference between Movie/Series, but I think Spader would have likely added more depth to Jackson.

Ya, he showed up on a McGrubber(SNL)sketch last season and I couldn't believe how chubby and Old he looked. Was a great sketch though.

RDA up front because he's RDA, but Michael Shanks next because, well I've always had a man crush on him.

Who the hell is Ben Browder?

Since I've never heard of one and the other sucks I vote neither.

RDA of course, especially in SG-1 where Browder's character was boring.

Browder as John Crichton from Farscape is much more competitive, especially late in the series where he's doing things like raiding a shadow bank for cash and walking around with a live a-bomb. RDA still wins though.

Early Jackson (series) was played like Movie Jackson (Spader), but late series Jackson was a totally different animal.
The fact that Shanks managed to be Spader's Jackson and then transform into late series Jackson makes me wonder where your one character actor comment comes from, since early and late Jackson are quite far apart.

You mean how nerdy Daniel who looked at gun like it was an object from another universe morhping in to a buff, machine gun toting Daniel Jackson?
I think he did it keep Lexa from boffing Christopher Judge.

Could be. But then again it was Shanks who was doing the Kirk thing off-screen.:p

Anyhow, RDA > Joe Flanigan > BB.

Shanks does crazy pretty well, as anyone who saw him in Burn Notice can attest.

I think I saw him in one episodes of the Outer Limits (the redux, not original), too.

Ben Browder, with the right role, does very well. His John Crighton from Farscape, by the end of that series, was a badass. As Col. Mitchell he was decent, but not outstanding. If they had to replace RDA with someone, he was probably the best choice available.

Crighton + Aeryn Sun >> Mitchel + Vala

I disagree. Every Character goes through Growth, I'm talking Acting Style/Ability though.

I like Joe Flannigan better than him, he kind of reminds me of Harrison Ford (though not as good an actor).

RDA was good because of his nonchalance and quips in SG-1.
Yes, this.
