belt a must if wearing dress pants?

I almost always wear a belt with shorts, jeans, cargo pants, or dress pants.

and +1 for the OP for using "regardless" correctly

and they shouldnt be the same belt 🙂

Really? I just have my black solid leather belt with matte silver steel solid rectangular buckle. I figure it looks good with jeans and my black suit.

: shrugs :

While I personally always wear a belt, there are numerous occasions when it is not necessary. Some pants do not even have belt loops, and can be to be worn with or without suspenders.

well, it is a generalization. usually jeans are gonna see more abuse than dress pants, and therefore most jean belts (in my experience) end up with wrinkles, scratches, stains, etc. i like my dress pant belts to be pretty much flawless, or at least not raggedy. but either way one must wear a belt... leave the ass exposure to the ladies.

I know I'm supposed to, but sometimes if the waist fits fine and I know my jacket won't be off, I'll go without and hope no one notices.

Ah, i guess I am meticulous about keeping my jeans and dress pants in excellent condition as my belt has lasted over 10 years with minimal wear 🙂
