WTF do they want democracy for? We have it here and all that really happens is we vote in puppets who just do what the corporations pay them to do because they fund them and are the ones who actually keep them in power. Money runs EVERYTHING in this country. Even legislators who actually make the laws. This is why some laws make no sense - not because there was no foresight in creating them. They protect the wealth of the wealthy. I'm not a political guy in the least, but even I can see this. You can too, if you watch the documentary PARK AVENUE on Netflix. Democracy may be the best way to go, but it is near pointless around here... the whole voting thing.

Maybe if we can make funding campaigns and paying politicians illegal...

Forget it - making any sole people in charge of anything is a recipe for disaster.

There really is no "best place to live".

#2 Also create a fake democracy, create two "parties" that represent the same group of people, have the media provide to the public a curated list of people to vote for.

I didn't know what was going on either. Apparently, Hong Kong has always been a democratic city and originally belonged to the United Kingdom. UK gave Hong Kong up 30 years ago back to China. China wants more of a say in who their elected officials are. I think that's the story.

money runs everything in China too. Except you have no rights to vote them in. And most of them are corrupt, wealthy officials who's kids drive ferraris and get away with running over poor pedestrians.

Here at least you can vote for the lesser of the two evils and when your guy loses and the winner puts in laws you don't like, at least you can say to your common man, "hey i voted for the other guy".
