Price update:

Looks like Dell has increased their price on this NIC to $9.95. Check the link in my original post if you want to see it.

Also, still showing as out-of-stock.

I ordered really early (Order #7169XXXXX) from Dell Home and it still hasn't shipped. I don't really care about the one NIC I ordered, but I actually do want the switch that was also in the order. Because the NIC is on backorder, Dell was planning to wait for both items to become available before shipping. The estimated shipping date was 24 December. However, I called them yesterday and they are going to separate the two items and send out the switch right away.

I should have ordered more NICs, but I already have two unused ones sitting in my closet. I want to give the switch as a Christmas present. So I really want it to arrive soon.

I assume the people who ordered after me and have already received their NICs ordered from the other divison of Dell.

NICs have arrived at my house. I guess UPS came while i was out shopping, and my wife drug in the boxes. I ordered 10 right before I posted on the front page of this thread. I needed 5 and figured for the money, it would be good to have a back-up card for every card I have since i didnt know how long a 95cent NIC would last 😛

Retail boxed, manual, Driver CD and WOL (wake on LAN) cable included, it appears the card uses a MPX? chip and has a Boot ROM socket. Driver support for Win 3.x , Win95/98, WinME and Win2k. And last but not least Lifetime Warranty. Manual looks pretty thorough, even instructions for setting up a simple network, and instructions for Internet Connection Sharing.

Thumbs Up for 90 cents.

I guess Order numbers have exactly CRAP to do with when your order ships, my order # was 71703XXXX I ordered right after Vincent in the post above this, and already have mine.

DAMN!

screwed again!!!

I really wish that people did not take such advantage of these deals. Order 5, order 10 but not 300! I guess that I am peeved since I don't visit this forum often enough (every 5 seconds) to get in on these deals.

Dell changed my order status from "uh...it's MIA...and we're too busy to go find 'em" to something like "yeah...it shipped out two days ago...even tho 2 days ago we said that they were MIA" so...whatever...they still haven't charged my CC... i guess we'll see then, eh? 🙂

Merry Christmas! 😀

I ordered the switch at the same time as the NIC's.
The order is listed as trying to complete.
By reading the response that Ripper18 got from Dell, if they cancel the NIC's,
does that mean that I will need to reorder the switch? Without the discounts?????

Has anyone that ordered multiple items at the same time, including NIC's,
and have the NIC's as "trying to reslove", received a partial shipment for
the other items ordered, or is entire order on hold like mine? (Unless switch
is also NA).

What do you intend to do with multiple nics in your PC. I assume that you are using it in a home environment. Other
than using NAT for Internet connectivity I can not see any use for multiple NICs in a home PC. In the corporate
world where you typically would have multiple subnets then ok.

I have done this years ago under Arcnet just so that I could have quicker server access from two different PCs to the
server.

Ripper, did you get this in an e-mail, or from the Dell order status web page? 🙁

TIA.

Oh, if you need one put up an offer on the FS/FT forum to buy a few of them. There will be tons of people who bought them just to buy them and won't even use them. Do that and then stop complaining already.....Get over it. As long as the Hot Deals forum exists, people will buy in bulk.

Okay, back to your regularly scheduled surfing..... 🙂

got a question for you guys that are used to dealing with Dell....

I ordered a few of these nics (haven't shipped yet) and got a confirmation.
Later, on a different order, I ordered one of the Belkin switches...I got the immediate email that Dell sends, but NEVER got the comfirmation/order # email....what should I do? The price on the site is now double what my order was. Should I call and try to get them to send me the switch for the original price?

Just got an email from Dell.

We have reviewed your order # , and although we had anticipated
being able to ship your order sooner, we are experiencing an unexpected
delay. We will not be able to ship your order until 2/28/02. We apologize
for this inconvenience, and are doing everything we can to get your order
out to you as quickly as possible.

🙁

I never receive any thing from Dell.

Not a word except for the order placed-confirmation email.
This don't sound good.
Not even an order number.

What was in your order? Just NICs, or other stuff?

TIA,
MN 🙁
