I went to the OD site and typed it in and got

We're sorry, no matches were found for "F5U261".

I found one at my local OfficeMax and thought it would be a great addition to my case. But at its retail OM price of $44, I decided against it. I checked online for this at the OD store nearest me (almost an hour drive away) and it shows as discontinued ... no way to add it to cart. Knowing how pooch-screwed the OD inventory can be, I am calling today to verify this. If I could pricematch it to OfficeMax, that was be awesome. Considering I still have around $50 in OM gift cards, it'd be a freebie for me.

BINGO !! Just scored one of the two remaining at OD in another city. Now all I hafta do is hope the snow forecast doesn't prevent me from getting there to pick it up.
Bozo, could you give details on the USB surgery you performed on your unit ? TIA

*EDIT*
Got greedy and bought both to clear out the store. Was thinking of heading to OM and pricematching before OD inventory updated with a '0' quantity. OM had it for $44 and I wanted to screw them over just for being jerks but decided to get home after the long drive to the OD store.

It's not hard to do, but you have to have the parts and your motherboards' manual so you can pin out your cable to match your mb's usb2 header layout. If your comp's old, it may not even have an internal USB front header on the mb.

For the parts, I used crimpable female pin plug thingies (<- official tech term here). Get a dozen or so of them (in case you hose up the first time) and get a couple 4 pin sleeves to slip the pin thingies into. Cut off the end of the cable that is supposed to connect to the back of the comp case USB port and strip the wires you need. Crimp the female pin thingies onto the wires. Slip the crimped ends into the appropriate slots in the pin sleeves to match your mb's USB2 layout. Plug the sleeves onto the mb's USB2 front header pins. Ta-Da, you're done!

It's not very hard if you can find the right parts. Good Luck.

First, if anyone can find the SKU or would like to sell me two of these at cost, please let me know.

Second, if you don't want to do surgery on your cable and also don't want to run it out the back of your case, try this USB 2.0 PCI card from MicroCenter for $4.99. It has an internal USB header, but it's the kind that you typically would find on the outside of your case (i.e., you can plug in a connector rather than connecting individual wires to leads). If you have a local MicroCenter that solution may be simpler than messing around with the cable.

I scored the last two on the shelf at the Colorado Springs 8th St location, and will probably keep one for myself, but the SKU is 602-875. Stuck on an endcap in the computer area, marked $34.99, but rang $8.04 :)

You see! THIS is the correct SKU. I scored the last two blacks ones at the Aborn Shopping Center OD in San Jose! I drove literally 35+ miles to get them!

Hmmm..it seems that I don't need to modify this. I have an internal port in my 5 port USB 2.0 PCI card.

This is a GREAT addition for the hub. Great price too.

SKU's vary by state....even if you AREN'T logged in to the OD website, some people can find the SKU others can't...I had a friend in Ohio who was trying to show me something and was giving me the sku and I couldn't bring it up for the life of me....however when he searched they came right up....to confirm this, we both logged out of the website, cleared our cookies and everything, and the same thing...somehow OD knows where you're searching from and brings up the products accordingly.
