Belgian Ale > *

I'm halfway into a pint (or is it 12 oz?) of this Belgian Ale I bought at Morry's of Naples (Best liquor store ever, Long Beach) called "Delerium" and it lives up to its name. 8.5% alcohol content but I'd swear it's more. I'm contemplating lying down for a bit until the room stops spinning.

It's strange, I can usually take about 4 beers or 6 shots of alcohol before I get tipsy. Maybe it's my empty stomach. Woooo.

Golden Draak. It's a Belgian beer that comes in an opaque white bottle. It's 10.5% and quite tasty.

Full name of the beer is Ale Delerium Tremens by the Huyghe brewery. It's in a painted white speckled bottle with animals on it.

I've been wanting to try Fin du Monde (9%) and a 15% that this local bar has... 😀

Does that 15% even taste good?

My friends and I were joking around about coming up with a homebrew that has a super high alcohol content. We were going to call it Everbeer (a play on everclear).

We joked about the rash of alcohol poisonings it would cause.

My mom drank two of those in an hour and she was fine. Seriously

BRB my vagina is bleeding

Belgians are strong! That is the style. Often sweet due to the high alcohol levels killing off the yeast. They also use some strains of yeast that produce off flavors, e.g., sour, tart, etc.... Some belguims even get exposed to bacteria to cultivate 'interesting' flavors.

I have a batch of homebrew that is fermenting that will approach 7 %. It will be an ass-kicker!

I toured the Straffe Henrik brewery with my wife a few years ago (Brugges) and my wife (she had about 12 oz.) almost fell down the steps as we were leaving! hahahaha the next tour group was approaching us and saw the whole thing. hahaha they busted up laughing!

Best beer name, EVAR. I bet that stuff would sell really well as long as whoever makes Everclear didn't sue you for ripping off their name.

That is a good name for a homebeer! I might just borrow that if you don't mind!

Its very difficult to get homebrew above 10%...i would guess that it is impossible to get something to 15%. BUT please try and send me a bottle!

Its not so difficult if you arent going to be a whining purist about adding Everclear to the beer...
